Splash Rocket - TechFEST'26:

About The Event:

• Splash Rocket is organised as part of techFEST'26, the Annual Technical Festival of SLIET.
• The event is a two-round challenge where participants launch water rockets for maximum distance and precise targeting.
• The challenge focuses on physics, pressure, and precision using water and air.

Number Of Rounds:

- 2 rounds.

Round 1 - Distance Round:

• Each team will get 3 launch attempts.
• The objective is to achieve maximum horizontal distance.
• The farthest valid launch will be considered for scoring.
• Teams must use only the rocket and materials approved by the organisers.
• Launches must be performed only from the designated launch area.
• Teams must follow all safety instructions during preparation and launch.
• Any unsafe or unauthorised modification may lead to disqualification.
• Distance will be measured by the event coordinators/judges.
• In case of a tie, an additional tie-breaker launch may be conducted.
• The organisers' decision will be final.

Round 2 - Targeting Round:

• Each team must launch its rocket toward the designated target.
• Targets will be placed at predefined distances.
• Teams will receive the number of attempts specified by the organisers.
• Points will be awarded based on proximity to the bullseye.
• Higher accuracy will result in a higher score.
• Only launches from the designated launch area will be considered valid.
• Teams must follow all safety instructions during preparation and launch.
• Any unauthorised modification or unsafe practice may result in disqualification.
• The judges will determine the landing position and final score.
• In case of a tie, a tie-breaker launch may be conducted.
• The organisers' decision will be final.

Rules & Judging Criteria:

• Team Size: 1–3 members.
• Time Limit: 2 hours to design and demonstrate the model.
• Material: Only approved materials can be used.
• Teams must build water-propelled rockets using safe, non-combustible materials. No chemical propulsion is allowed.
• Rockets must use only water and air pressure for propulsion.
• The launch mechanism must be manual and safe to operate by participants.
• Each team will get two attempts per round; the better result will be considered.

Evaluation Criteria:

• Maximum Horizontal and Vertical Distance: 50%.
• Innovation and Design: 20%.
• Presentation & Explanation: 15%.
• Discipline and Behaviour: 15%.

Component Limitation:

• Participants are allowed to use only approved materials for rocket construction and launch setup.
• Plastic bottles: 1–2 litre capacity.
• PVC pipes for the launcher frame.
• Bicycle pump or foot pump for air pressure.
• Water as fuel.
• Rubber corks, valves, or clamps to seal and release pressure.
• Tape, glue, and zip ties for construction.
• Fins, cones, and other aerodynamic attachments made from paper/plastic.
• Measuring tape or scale for optional self-testing.
• Markers, flags, or cloth for target identification.
• Metallic or combustible components are strictly prohibited.

Eligibility:

• Open to all Diploma, UG, and PG students from any branch or discipline from recognised colleges or universities.
• All participants must carry a valid college ID card for verification.
• Failure to produce a valid college ID may lead to disqualification.

Rewards & Recognition:

• Exciting prizes for the Top 3 Winners.
• Certificates for all participants.

Certification Policy:

• All participants will receive certificates.
• Winners will be awarded certificates and prizes based on the final results declared by the judges.

Important Note:

• Judges' decisions will be final and binding.
• No appeals or objections regarding results will be entertained.
• Misbehaviour, misconduct, or use of unfair means will lead to immediate disqualification.
• The organisers reserve the right to modify the rules, structure, or schedule.
• Teams must bring their own materials and tools.
• Participants must ensure safe handling of all equipment.
• Participants must report 15 minutes before the event starts.
• Participants must stay updated through official notices on the SLIET TechFEST 2026 website.
• Any change in venue or rules will be notified to participants.

Terms & Conditions:

• Participation in techFEST'26 events implies acceptance of all the rules mentioned above.
• The organisers have the right to use photographs and videos of the event for promotional purposes.
• Prize money will be distributed after completion of the festival, subject to verification of winners.
• In case of any dispute, the decision of the festival convenor will be final and binding.
