Opportunity brief
Overview
- J.A.M. (Just A Minute) is a fast-paced public speaking competition testing spontaneity, fluency, presence of mind, and communication skills.
- The theme is "Think Fast, Speak Smart."
- Participants will speak impromptu on randomly assigned topics for one minute.
General Rules & Regulations
- Individual participation only
- Open to registered fest participants.
- Each participant will receive a random topic immediately before their turn.
- Participants must speak continuously for 60 seconds while maintaining relevance and fluency.
- Valid interruptions may be made only for violations such as hesitation, repetition, or deviation from the topic.
- If an interruption is declared valid, the interrupter takes over the topic for the remaining time.
- Invalid interruptions will result in a penalty to the interrupter.
- Offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language is prohibited.
- Judges' decision shall be final and binding.
Competition Structure
- Each participant gets 1 minute (60 seconds) per topic.
- A new topic will be assigned in each subsequent round.
- Approximately 5 participants will qualify for the final round.
- Participants should avoid hesitation, unnecessary repetition, and deviation from the assigned topic.
Additional Guidelines
- Only one entry per participant is permitted.
- Participants must report before the scheduled event time.
- All instructions given by judges and organizers must be followed.
- Repeated rule violations, disruptive behavior, unsportsmanlike conduct, or failure to follow instructions may result in disqualification.
