Opportunity brief

Overview:

A team-based electronics and innovation event where participants bid for components using virtual credits and then build their own creative working project using the resources they acquire.

Eligibility:

  • Open to undergraduate students from any branch/specialization.
  • Inter-college teams are allowed.
  • Inter-specialization teams are allowed.
  • Team size: 3 - 5 members.
  • A participant can be part of only one team.

Format:

  • Each team receives a fixed amount of virtual credits.
  • Common/basic components are to be bought using these credits.
  • Special/limited components are auctioned and can be bought using remaining credits after buying the basic components.
  • Teams must strategically bid and manage their budget.
  • After the auction, teams can build any project they want using only the components/resources they acquired.
  • Teams design, assemble, program and demonstrate their project.
  • Projects are evaluated based on functionality, creativity, technical implementation and efficient use of resources.
  • Auction: 1.5-2 hours
  • Build & Design: 2.5 hours
  • Final Demonstration & Evaluation: 30 minutes
  • Total Duration: Approximately 4.5-5 hours.

Rules:

  • Each team will receive the same initial amount of virtual credits.
  • Teams must use only the components/resources they have acquired through the permitted event mechanisms.
  • Teams may not secretly obtain components from other teams or external sources.
  • Any resource trade must be approved by the event coordinators.
  • Components cannot be exchanged after the trading period closes.
  • Teams must not interfere with another team's circuit, code, components, or workspace.
  • Any attempt to gain an unfair advantage through unauthorized hardware, software, communication, or external assistance may result in disqualification.
  • Only low-voltage components supplied/approved by the organizers may be used.
  • Teams are responsible for handling the components assigned to them.
  • The organizers' decision regarding rule violations and scoring will be final.
  • Any resource trade must be approved by the event coordinators.
  • Components cannot be exchanged after the trading period closes.

Objective:

To encourage participants to think creatively, make strategic engineering decisions and develop a functional project under limited resources, budget and time constraints.

  • Registration Fee: Rs.250 per team
  • Prizepool: Rs.20k
