Overview
Stock Wars — Think. Trade. Negotiate.
Step into the world of financial markets with Stock Wars, a three-round stock market simulation and negotiation competition designed to test your market knowledge, investment strategy, risk management, and decision-making skills.
Teams of 2–3 members will compete through a stock market quiz, portfolio-building challenge, and a live trading simulation where breaking news can change the market in an instant.
Competition Format
Market Minds → Portfolio Building → Breaking News Trading
Round 1 — Market Minds
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Put your financial knowledge to the test through:
- 25 Rapid-Fire Questions
- 25 Live Bidding Questions
The round covers stock market fundamentals, NSE, BSE, major indices, financial instruments, portfolio concepts, IPOs, dividends, market capitalisation, and current market trends.
Round 2 — Portfolio Building
Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Step into the role of an investor.
Each team receives an equal virtual budget and a selection of stocks at simulated market prices. Analyse the available options and strategically allocate your capital to build a diversified portfolio.
Your investment decisions will form the foundation for the final round.
Round 3 — Breaking News Trading
Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
The market can change in seconds.
Breaking market news will be released throughout the round. Teams must analyse the information and decide whether to Buy, Sell, or Hold their stocks.
The actual price movements will remain hidden until the trading session ends. Closing prices will then be revealed and each team's portfolio performance will be evaluated.
Judging Criteria
- Market Knowledge — 25 Marks
- Investment Strategy — 20 Marks
- Portfolio Diversification — 10 Marks
- Budget Utilisation — 10 Marks
- News Analysis — 10 Marks
- Trading Decisions — 15 Marks
- Final Portfolio Performance — 10 Marks
Who Can Participate?
Eligibility: Open to everyone
Team Size: 2–3 members
Participants from all departments and backgrounds are welcome to compete.
Rules & Regulations
- Each team must consist of 2–3 members.
- Each team must bring one laptop for participation.
- All participants must be dressed in formal attire.
- Participants must report to the venue before the scheduled time. Late entry may not be permitted.
- Teams must follow the instructions provided by the organisers throughout the competition.
- The decision of the judges regarding the results will be final and binding.
