BIZBOSS – Business & Management Challenge
BizBoss is a solo managerial talent competition conducted as part of Datakon'26 by the Department of Data Science and Business Systems, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur.
The event challenges participants on business thinking, communication, leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and the ability to think under pressure through three competitive rounds.
Eligibility
- Open to students from any college.
- Participants can belong to any specialization/department.
- Students from any year of study can participate.
- This is an individual/solo participation event.
- Registration is free of charge.
- Participants must carry a valid college ID card.
- Formal attire is mandatory.
- Only English is permitted throughout the event.
Event Structure
Round 1 – Impromptu Ventures
- Participants will be given a business scenario or problem on the spot and must present their idea or solution to the judges within 5 minutes.
- There is no advance preparation. Participants will be evaluated on their thinking, confidence and ability to communicate under pressure.
Notes and mobile phones are not allowed.
Round 2 – The Open Floor
Participants will be randomly divided into two teams and given a topic for debate.
One team will argue in favour of the topic and the other team will argue against it. The topic will be announced on the spot.
- Total debate duration: approximately 30 minutes
- Each speaking turn: maximum 2 minutes
- Every participant must speak at least once.
- Participants may speak more than once.
- Individual performance will be considered rather than which team wins the debate.
Round 3 – The Interview
Participants will attend an individual face-to-face interview with the judges lasting approximately 5 minutes.
Questions may cover:
- Personal introduction
- Goals and ambitions
- Business
- Leadership
- Entrepreneurship
- Ideas and decision-making
Participants are expected to communicate confidently and honestly.
General Rules
- Participants must report to the venue 15 minutes before the event begins.
- Late arrivals will not be accommodated.
- Mobile phones are strictly prohibited during all rounds.
- Any malpractice or misconduct will result in immediate disqualification.
- Participants must maintain proper respect and decorum towards judges, coordinators and fellow participants.
- Only English is permitted.
- Formal attire is mandatory.
- Organizers may make changes to the format if required, with participants being informed before the round.
- Decisions of the judges and coordinators are final and binding.

Participants should report 15 minutes before the event begins.
