Opportunity brief

Overview:

DSA Showdown is a high-octane competitive programming event centered on Data Structures and Algorithms, designed to challenge participants' logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and algorithmic efficiency.

The competition incorporates core themes from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure — Enhances computational thinking, technical proficiency, and industry-ready problem-solving abilities.
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — Emphasizes algorithmic optimization, resource efficiency, and reduced computational complexity.

Round Wise Details:

Round 1: Aptitude Quiz

  • Format: Time-bound Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Screening.
  • Mechanism: Teams undergo a fast-paced assessment covering quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and foundational programming logic.
  • Selection: Top-performing teams meeting the qualification benchmark advance to Round 2.

Round 2: Coding Showdown

  • Format: Competitive DSA Coding Sprint.
  • Mechanism: Qualified teams tackle a curated set of Data Structures and Algorithms problems ranging across various difficulty levels.
  • Evaluation: Submissions are judged in real-time based on test-case correctness, time/space complexity efficiency, and submission speed.

Rules and Guidelines:

  • Team Composition: Teams must consist of 2 to 3 members.
  • Collaboration Policy: Discussion and collaboration are strictly limited to members within the same team. Inter-team communication or sharing logic is strictly prohibited.
  • AI & External Assistance: Use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot), search engines, or external help is strictly forbidden unless explicitly permitted by the organizers.
  • Fair Play & Integrity: Plagiarism, copying code snippets, impersonation, or unfair practices will result in instant disqualification.
  • Hardware & Connectivity: Teams are responsible for their own laptops, peripherals, and internet connectivity unless infrastructure is provided on-site.
  • Code of Conduct: Professionalism and respectful behavior towards organizers and peers must be maintained at all times.
  • Final Authority: The decision of the organizers regarding scoring, problem evaluation, shortlisting, and disqualification is final and binding
