About the Hackathon:

The AI for Good Hackathon, organised as part of Prayas—Plaksha University's first inter-college tech fest is a 24-hour innovation challenge focused on solving real-world social and environmental problems.

Participants will work in teams to develop an AI-driven solution that is practical, responsible and capable of creating a positive impact.

Eligibility and Team Formation:

  • Open to undergrad students.
  • Each team must consist of 3–4 members.
  • Inter-college team members: Allowed
  • Each participant can be part of only one team.
  • One team member must register as the team leader and provide the details of all members.
  • Competition Format

The Hackathon will be conducted in two rounds.

Round 1: Online Screening

Registered teams will participate in an online screening round.

Screening process: Participants are free to choose any problem they want to work on. They need to identify the problem, explain why it matters, and present their proposed approach/idea for solving it. The screening will focus on the problem statement, originality of the idea, feasibility, and how clearly the solution approach is articulated.

Round 2: Offline Hackathon

Shortlisted teams will be invited to Plaksha University on 19 September for a 24-hour offline build sprint.

Duration: 24 hours

Mode: Offline

Venue: Plaksha University

Theme: AI for Good

Number of tracks/ problem statements: 4

  • The four tracks and corresponding problem statements will be revealed at the beginning of the offline Hackathon to the qualified teams. Teams will [select/be assigned] a track and develop their solution within the given 24 hours.
  • Teams will take their idea from concept to a working prototype and present their final solution to the judging panel.

Mentorship:

  • Each track will have a dedicated mentor.
  • Mentor checkpoints will be conducted during and at the end of the Hackathon.

Rules:

  • Teams must consist of 3-4 eligible members.
  • Each participant may register as part of only one team.
  • Team-member changes after registration will require approval from the organisers.
  • All work submitted must be original and developed during the Hackathon.
  • Teams must follow the announced problem statement, submission format and deadlines.
  • Participants may use only the tools, datasets, APIs, pre-trained models and external resources permitted by the organisers.
  • Any external resources used must be properly disclosed.
  • Teams must attend the required mentor checkpoints and final presentation.
  • Plagiarism, misrepresentation or misconduct may lead to disqualification.

The decision of the judging panel and organisers will be final.

Total prize pool: ₹2,00,000

Division:  35k + 15k for all 4 tracks!

  • Applicable taxes/TDS will be deducted from prize money as per prevailing government regulations. For prize amounts exceeding ₹10,000, tax deductions may apply.
