Robo Race
About the Competition
Robo Race is a team-based robotics competition in which participants operate a robot through a designated obstacle track. Teams will be evaluated on speed, obstacle-handling ability, control, technical compliance, and successful completion of the track.
The competition will be conducted as a direct offline final event. Each team's robot will undergo technical inspection during the competition before being permitted to participate in its race attempt.
Eligibility
- Open to undergraduate and diploma engineering students. - Participants may belong to any college or university. - Each team must consist of 2–4 members. - All team members must satisfy the eligibility requirements. - There is no registration fee.

The competition will be conducted as a direct offline final event.
Technical Inspection
Before a team's race attempt, the robot will be inspected by the organizing/technical team.
The inspection may include:
- Length: Maximum 30 cm - Width: Maximum 30 cm - Height: Maximum 30 cm - Weight: Must comply with the maximum weight limit specified by the organizers at the venue. - Power source: Must comply with the permitted power requirements. - Construction: The robot must not contain prohibited or hazardous components. - Control system: The robot must comply with the permitted control method. - Overall safety: The robot must be safe to operate on the track.
Only robots that successfully pass the inspection will be allowed to participate in the race.
Race Attempt
- Each team will receive two timed attempts, subject to the event schedule and available track time. - The better valid time will be considered for the team's ranking. - The robot must complete the designated obstacle track without external assistance. - The maximum time allowed for each attempt is 3 minutes. - An attempt exceeding the maximum time will be recorded as a timeout. - The final ranking will be determined based on the applicable race performance and penalties.

Weight
- The robot must comply with the maximum weight limit announced by the organizers. - The complete race-ready robot may be weighed during technical inspection. - Any robot exceeding the permitted weight limit may be denied participation until it meets the required specification.
Power Source
- Robots must use a safe battery-operated power source. - Flammable, explosive, or otherwise hazardous fuels are strictly prohibited. - Batteries and electrical connections must be properly secured and safely installed. - The technical team may reject any power setup considered unsafe.
Rules & Regulations
- Only remote-controlled or fully autonomous robots are permitted. - No manual pushing, lifting, pulling, or external assistance is allowed during a race attempt. - The robot must remain within the designated track area during the run. - The maximum time for each attempt is 3 minutes. - Any attempt exceeding 3 minutes will be declared a timeout. - Teams must ensure that their robot complies with the specified size, weight, power, and safety requirements. - The robot will be inspected before its race attempt. - Any modification made after inspection may require re-inspection and approval before the robot can participate. - Teams must not intentionally damage, alter, obstruct, or interfere with the race track or obstacles. - Any accidental damage to the track or obstacles must be reported immediately to the organizers. - Teams must report to the staging area at least 15 minutes before their allotted slot. - Teams are responsible for bringing their own robot, batteries, controllers, tools, and other required equipment. - Participants must follow all instructions given by the organizers and technical officials. - Only one team's robot may be operated on the track at a time unless otherwise specified by the organizers. - The organizing committee reserves the right to stop a run if the robot or its operation creates a safety risk.
Race Procedure
- Teams report to the staging area at least 15 minutes before their allotted slot. - The robot is presented for technical inspection. - The technical team verifies the robot's dimensions, weight, power source, control system, and general safety. - Once approved, the team proceeds to the race area. - The team receives its allotted race attempt. - The robot completes the obstacle track without external assistance. - The completion time and applicable penalties are recorded. - The team may receive a second attempt according to the competition schedule. - The better valid performance is considered for ranking. - Results are finalized based on the competition's judging criteria.

Grounds for Disqualification
A team may be disqualified for:
- Exceeding the permitted size or weight limits. - Using prohibited materials, fuel, or hazardous power sources. - Using external assistance during a race attempt. - Deliberately damaging or interfering with the track or obstacles. - Unauthorized modification after technical inspection. - Operating the robot in an unsafe manner. - Interfering with another team's equipment or race attempt. - Unsportsmanlike, abusive, or disruptive conduct. - Failure to follow instructions from organizers or technical officials. - Missing the allotted time slot without prior notice. - Any other violation that compromises the safety or fairness of the competition.
Safety & Conduct
- Safety of participants, officials, equipment, and the venue must be maintained at all times. - Teams must handle their robots and batteries responsibly. - Participants must not enter restricted areas of the track without permission. - Any unsafe robot may be stopped or removed from the competition. - Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful conduct throughout the event.
Results & Judging
- Rankings will be determined using the recorded race performance and applicable penalties. - In case of a tie, the organizers may conduct an additional timed attempt or use another predetermined tie-breaker. - The judges' and technical officials' decisions will be final and binding, subject to correction of any administrative or calculation error.
