UAV Competition
About the Competition
The UAV Competition is a team-based technical event focused on UAV design, flight control, mission execution, safety, and technical understanding. Teams will operate their UAVs in a designated offline flight area and complete the assigned mission while following all safety requirements.
Eligibility
- Open to students currently pursuing any degree program. - Participants may belong to any college or university. - Each team must consist of 3–6 members. - All team members must satisfy the eligibility requirements. - A safety briefing is mandatory before the flight activity. - There is no registration fee.

Format
The competition will be conducted as a direct offline final event.
The event will consist of the following activities:
1. Technical & Safety Inspection
- All UAVs will undergo a mandatory technical and safety inspection before flight. - The UAV must be airworthy and comply with the safety requirements specified by the organizers. - The organizing team may inspect the UAV, batteries, propulsion system, control system, and other relevant components. - Only UAVs that successfully pass the inspection will be permitted to fly.
2. Mission Flight
- Teams will complete the assigned mission using their UAV. - Mission tasks may include activities such as payload drop, navigation, mapping, target identification, or other tasks announced by the organizers. - Teams must complete the assigned task within the specified time limit. - All flights must take place within the designated flight zone.
3. Documentation & Viva
- Teams may be required to submit a brief design/technical report. - The judging panel may ask questions regarding the UAV's design, components, control system, flight operation, and mission strategy. - Team members should be able to explain their respective technical contributions.
Rules & Regulations
- All UAVs must pass the mandatory safety inspection before being allowed to fly. - The maximum takeoff weight and permitted flight altitude will be specified during the venue-specific briefing and must be strictly followed. - Flights are permitted only within the designated flight zone. - Flying over spectators, organizers, restricted areas, or other prohibited zones is strictly forbidden. - At least one team member must have appropriate UAV piloting training or prior flight experience, subject to verification by the organizers. - A mandatory safety briefing must be attended by the participating team before the flight activity. - Teams must follow all instructions given by safety marshals, technical officials, and organizers. - In case of a crash, malfunction, loss of control, or other safety issue, the flight must be stopped immediately and the safety marshals must be informed. - Teams are responsible for bringing their own required batteries, propellers, tools, and other necessary backup equipment. Spare batteries and propellers will not be provided by the organizers. - Any modification made to the UAV after the safety inspection must be approved by the organizers before the UAV is flown again. - Teams must not operate a UAV in a manner that intentionally or negligently endangers people, property, or other participants. - Participants must comply with all applicable safety instructions and venue restrictions communicated by the organizers. - The organizing committee reserves the right to stop or cancel a flight if it considers the operation unsafe.
Equipment & Preparation
- Teams must bring their own UAV and all equipment required for operation. - Teams should carry sufficient batteries and necessary spare components. - All equipment must be in safe operating condition. - Teams should arrive with adequate time for registration, technical inspection, and the mandatory safety briefing. - Any specific technical specifications or equipment restrictions will be communicated before the competition.

Grounds for Disqualification
A team may be disqualified for:
- Failing the mandatory safety inspection. - Flying outside the designated flight zone. - Violating specified altitude or weight restrictions. - Endangering spectators, organizers, participants, or property. - Unauthorized modification of the UAV after inspection. - Ignoring instructions from safety marshals or organizers. - Deliberately violating safety protocols. - Providing false information regarding team members or pilot experience. - Tampering with another team's equipment. - Serious misconduct or disruptive behavior. - Any other action that compromises the safety or fairness of the competition.
Safety & Conduct
- Safety takes priority over competition performance. - All participants must behave professionally and responsibly. - Teams must follow instructions from organizers, judges, technical officials, and safety marshals. - Participants must not interfere with another team's UAV or equipment. - Any unsafe operation may result in immediate termination of the flight. - The organizing committee reserves the right to modify, postpone, stop, or cancel a flight for safety reasons.
Results & Judging
- The judging panel will evaluate teams according to the announced criteria. - In case of a tie, the organizers may conduct an additional evaluation or use a predetermined tie-breaker. - The judges' decision will be final and binding, subject to correction of any administrative or calculation error.
