Opportunity brief

The event consists of three engaging rounds designed to evaluate participants' business acumen, strategic thinking, problem-solving ability, adaptability, and presentation skills. Inspired by the theme "Con-Artist: The Art of the Bluff," participants will navigate business scenarios where perception, incomplete information, persuasive narratives, and sound judgment are just as important as the final solution.

Round 1: Bluff Breaker (Online Quiz):

Participants will attempt an online quiz comprising 25 multiple-choice questions designed to test their:

  • Business fundamentals
  • Logical reasoning
  • Financial awareness
  • Market knowledge
  • Ability to identify misleading information and strategic bluffs

The Top 100 teams based on their scores will qualify for the next round.

Round 2: The Masterstroke (Case Submission):

Qualified teams will receive a detailed business case based on a hypothetical company facing strategic and financial challenges.

The case may involve themes such as:

  • Market disruption
  • Funding challenges
  • Information asymmetry
  • Valuation hype
  • Competitive pressure
  • Deceptive business environments

Teams will analyze the case and submit a presentation recommending the most suitable strategy, supported by financial reasoning, market insights, implementation plans, and risk assessment.

The Top 25 teams will advance to the Offline Finale

Round 3: The Final Reveal (Offline Finale):

Total Time for event: 4.5 hr

Finalist teams will present their solutions before an esteemed panel of judges.

Presentation: 5 Minutes

Q&A: 2-3 min Qna + 1 min envelope bluff (given just after Presentation)

Judges will evaluate teams on:

  • Problem Analysis
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Financial Reasoning
  • Feasibility of Recommendations
  • Communication Skills
  • Ability to defend recommendations

The Final Bluff (Strategic Twist):

Immediately after the presentation, each team will be asked to pick one sealed "Board Alert" envelope at random.

Each envelope contains a confidential business development, investor proposal, market report, or strategic opportunity that the company's board has supposedly received moments before making its final decision.

A member will utilize QnA time to prepare strategy the new information internally, after which they will have 1 minutes to explain:

  • Whether this new development changes their original recommendation.
  • If yes, what changes they would make and why.
  • If no, why they believe their original strategy still remains the best course of action.

The judges will award additional marks based on:

  • Adaptability
  • Strategic Judgment
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Decision-making under uncertainty
  • Clarity of Communication

There are no objectively correct answers. Participants are evaluated on the strength of their reasoning and their ability to distinguish genuine opportunities from persuasive but potentially misleading narratives.
