Mayma is hiring for the role of Founding Backend & Systems Engineering Intern – Integrations, Cloud & AI! About the Company: Mayma is seeking a Founding Backend & Systems Engineering Intern to join their team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to both internal products and real client projects, taking ownership of assigned systems and features within a dynamic fintech environment. Responsibilities: Design and develop backend services and REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript. Design databases, data models, and backend architecture for real-world business applications. Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control for applications with multiple user types and permissions. Integrate third-party APIs and services including Google Maps, CRM systems, communication platforms, and other business tools. Build webhooks, automated workflows, notifications, and event-driven business processes. Work with PostgreSQL, Firebase, and other suitable databases depending on project requirements. Build backend systems supporting multiple locations, departments, employees, and business operations. Develop APIs for inventory, sales, service, employee operations, dashboards, reporting, and other business workflows. Work with cloud infrastructure such as AWS/Firebase and contribute to deployment, monitoring, and system reliability. Integrate AI APIs and automation tools into business processes where appropriate. Implement logging, audit trails, validation, security, and error handling. Debug backend and integration issues and independently research solutions when encountering unfamiliar technologies. Collaborate with the Product Engineering Intern to connect mobile/web applications with backend systems. Contribute to Mayma's internal products and real client projects while taking ownership of assigned systems and features. Requirements: Strong programming fundamentals and hands-on backend development experience preferred. Candidates with deployed APIs, backend projects, GitHub repositories, or real-world applications will be preferred. Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, and relational databases is highly preferred. Understanding of authentication, authorization, APIs, databases, and system architecture. Familiarity with AWS, Firebase, webhooks, third-party API integrations, or AI APIs is a strong advantage. Strong debugging and problem-solving ability. Candidates who can independently learn and implement unfamiliar technologies are strongly preferred. Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related backgrounds are preferred, but strong practical developers from any academic background are welcome. Full-time availability and immediate joining are preferred.
