Opportunity brief
Guidelines:
- Event Type: Startup & Project Pitching Challenge.
- Eligibility: Open to all UG and PG students.
- Working Professionals: Working professionals are not eligible to participate.
- Team Size: Participants may compete individually or in teams of up to 4 members.
- Inter-College Teams: Inter-college participation is allowed as the event is part of Pravrutti, an inter-college technical fest.
- Inter-Specialization Teams: Cross-department and cross-year teams are explicitly welcome. Students from different branches/specializations may form a team.
- Number of Rounds: The event consists of one direct pitching stage. There is no preliminary shortlisting or elimination round.
- Problem Statement: This is an open-innovation challenge. Participants select their own real-world problem statement rather than receiving a fixed problem statement from the organisers.
- Solution: Participants must develop and present an innovative solution to the selected problem. The solution may be a startup idea, product, service, technology-based solution or project.
- Pitch Format: Each participating team gets 7 minutes to present, followed by 3 minutes of questions from the expert jury.
- Presentation: Every registered team will receive an official presentation template approximately one week before the event. Participants must use the prescribed template for their pitch.
- Equipment: Participants should bring their own laptop, charger and extension board for the presentation.
- Total Event Duration: The official event format lists the event duration as 3 hours.
- Maximum Capacity: The event has a capacity of 70 teams/participants as per the official listing.
- Registration: Registration requires organiser approval. The listed registration fee is ₹200 per team, paid online by the team lead.
- Judging: The pitch is evaluated on:
- Problem statement and innovation
- Feasibility and market viability
- Real-world impact
- Pitch quality
- Communication
- These judging areas are given equal weightage according to the official event description.
Rules:
- Participants must register individually or as a team of up to 4 members.
- Each participant should be associated with only one registered team for the competition.
- The problem statement must be selected by the participant/team as part of the open-innovation format.
- The proposed idea should address a real-world problem and present a clearly defined solution.
- Teams must prepare their pitch using the official presentation template provided by the organisers.
- Participants must adhere to the prescribed presentation format and should not exceed the allotted 7-minute presentation time.
- The presentation will be followed by 3 minutes of questions and interaction with the expert jury.
- Team members should be prepared to explain and defend their problem definition, proposed solution, innovation, feasibility, market viability and expected real-world impact.
- Participants must bring their own laptop, charger and extension board required for their presentation.
- The pitch should represent the team's own idea and work. Plagiarism, misrepresentation or presenting another person's work as one's own is not permitted.
- Participants must maintain professional conduct throughout the event and follow instructions given by the organisers and jury.
- Participants must report to the venue at the time communicated by the organisers.
- There is no preliminary elimination round; every registered and approved participant/team is scheduled to pitch on the event day.
- The evaluation will consider the problem statement and innovation, feasibility and market viability, real-world impact, pitch quality and communication.
- The jury's decision is final as stated in the official event description.
- Any violation of event instructions or malpractice may lead to disqualification at the organisers' discretion.
- Participants must follow any additional instructions communicated by the event coordinators before or during the competition.
