Opportunity brief
Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Open to undergraduate students interested in web development, cybersecurity, programming, data analysis, cricket analytics, sports management, and related technical fields.
- Team Size: Each team must consist of 3–4 members.
- Inter-College Teams: Inter-college teams are allowed, subject to successful registration and approval by the organizers.
- Inter-Specialization Teams: Inter-specialization teams are allowed and encouraged. Students from Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Electronics, and other relevant disciplines may participate together.
- Event Type: Two-stage Cyber-Escape & Live IPL Auction Arena.
- Number of Rounds: The competition consists of 2 rounds:
- IPL Technical Escape Room
- Live IPL Mega Auction
- Duration: 6 hours.
- Maximum Capacity: 40 teams.
- Round 1: Teams participate in a multi-stage cyber-investigation challenge involving HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ciphers, cricket datasets, web analysis, and logical problem-solving.
- Qualification: The top 8 teams from Round 1 qualify for Round 2.
- Round 2: Qualified teams enter a simulated IPL Mega Auction environment with a virtual purse of ₹80 Crores.
- Auction Format: Teams act as franchise management groups and participate in real-time digital bidding to build a competitive squad.
- Squad Constraints: Teams must construct their roster while complying with the specified squad constraints announced by the organizers.
- Evaluation: Teams will be evaluated based on successful completion of Round 1 challenges and their performance in the auction, including strategic bidding and squad construction.
- Registration: Registration requires organizer approval. The registration fee is ₹200 per team, paid online by the team lead.
- Venue: Ramaiah Technology Campus, Bengaluru.
- Event Dates: 14–16 October 2026; the official schedule lists HAMMER on 15 October 2026, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.
- Prizes: 1st – ₹7,000; 2nd – ₹5,000; 3rd – ₹3,000.
Rules:
- Each team must consist of 3–4 registered members.
- Teams must remain together throughout the competition and may not substitute members without organizer approval.
- All teams must report and complete registration/check-in before the start of the event.
- Round 1 must be completed within the time allocated by the organizers.
- Participants must solve the assigned technical challenges using the information and resources permitted during the event.
- Teams must not interfere with another team's computer, workspace, network environment, challenge platform, or progress.
- Unauthorized access to another team's account, files, systems, or challenge environment is strictly prohibited.
- Any attempt to manipulate, damage, bypass, or compromise the event's technical infrastructure may result in immediate disqualification.
- Teams must independently solve the assigned challenges. Unauthorized assistance from other teams is not permitted.
- The technical escape-room challenges may involve HTML, CSS, JavaScript, cipher decoding, cricket datasets, web analysis, and logical reasoning.
- Only the top 8 qualifying teams from Round 1 will proceed to the Live IPL Mega Auction.
- Each qualifying team will receive a virtual purse of ₹80 Crores for the auction.
- Teams must use their virtual purse responsibly and may not exceed the allocated amount.
- All auction bids must be placed through the official digital bidding system or procedure provided by the organizers.
- Once a bid is accepted/confirmed according to the auction procedure, it cannot be withdrawn unless the organizers explicitly permit it.
- Teams must construct their squad while following all player, squad-size, role, and other auction constraints specified by the organizers.
- Teams must not manipulate the auction system, interfere with another team's bidding terminal, or attempt to obtain unauthorized information.
- Participants must follow the instructions of auction coordinators and judges at all times.
- Any cheating, collusion between teams, unauthorized communication, system manipulation, or other unfair practice may result in disqualification.
- Participants must maintain proper conduct toward organizers, judges, volunteers, and other teams.
- Any intentional damage to computers, bidding terminals, venue equipment, or other property may result in penalties and/or recovery of the associated cost.
- In case of technical issues, participants must immediately notify the event coordinators. The organizers will decide the appropriate corrective action.
- Judges/coordinators may impose penalties for violations of the competition rules.
- In case of a tie, the organizers may use additional technical performance or auction-related criteria as a tie-breaker.
- The judges' decision regarding challenge validity, qualification, bidding, penalties, scoring, and final results will be final and binding.
- The organizers reserve the right to modify the sequence or operational procedure of a round if required for technical or organizational reasons.

Round 1 — IPL Technical Escape Room:
Teams enter a multi-stage cyber-investigation environment and solve technical challenges involving:
- HTML inspection
- CSS analysis
- JavaScript analysis
- Cipher decoding
- Cricket dataset analysis
- Logical problem-solving
- Web-component investigation
Teams must solve the challenges and unlock the required master qualification keys to progress.
Round 2 — Live IPL Mega Auction:
The top 8 teams from Round 1 qualify for the live auction.
Each qualifying team receives a virtual purse of ₹80 Crores and operates as an IPL franchise. Teams participate in real-time digital bidding across marquee and accelerated sets and must construct their final squad while complying with the specified squad constraints.
