Overview
The Economic Architects
What if you were given an entire city to run—and every economic decision you made had consequences?
Virtual City is a strategy-driven economics event where participants step into the role of economic planners and policymakers responsible for shaping the future of a fictional city. Teams will work with a unique set of economic indicators, resources, constraints, and challenges, requiring them to think beyond conventional solutions.
Each qualified team will receive a city profile containing key indicators such as employment, population, income, infrastructure, public services, industries, trade, sustainability, and other relevant economic parameters. Along with these indicators, teams will be given two economic problems that their city is facing.
Participants must:
- Analyse the city's existing economic and social conditions.
- Interpret the relationship between different economic indicators.
- Identify the root causes and wider impact of the assigned problems.
- Develop solutions that balance economic growth, employment, equity, infrastructure, and sustainability.
- Allocate resources strategically and justify their economic choices.
- Demonstrate how their proposed interventions can improve the city's long-term economic performance.

- PPT Track - Transform your economic strategy into a structured presentation using data, charts, analysis, policies, and actionable solutions.
- 3D Model Track - Build a physical representation of your city's economy, incorporating industries, residential areas, transport, public infrastructure, energy, trade, green spaces, and other strategic elements.
The event will test more than theoretical knowledge. Participants will be challenged on their ability to interpret data, understand economic trade-offs, make strategic decisions, solve complex city-level problems, and defend their choices before the judges.
