AstroPixel: The Night Sky Photography Competition
The night sky has fascinated people for as long as we've looked up. A single frame can hold the Milky Way arching over a quiet landscape, a trail of stars circling the pole, or the soft glow of a distant nebula. AstroPixel is a competition for people who chase that kind of image.
About the Competition
AstroPixel invites photographers, students and hobbyists to submit their best astrophotography and compete for recognition. Whether you shoot with a DSLR on a tripod, a mirrorless camera with a fast lens, a tracking mount and telescope, or a smartphone with night mode, you are welcome here. We care about what you capture and how thoughtfully you capture it, not how expensive your gear is.
How Entries Are Judged
Entries will be judged on creativity (originality, composition and storytelling) and technical skill (focus, exposure, noise control and processing), weighted equally.
Rules and Guidelines
- All work must be your own, captured by you.
- Each participant may submit up to 1 image.
- Heavy manipulation, such as adding stars or objects that were not in the original scene, is not allowed. Standard adjustments like stacking, noise reduction, curves and color correction are fine.
- Include a short caption with each entry: location, date, and camera and lens or telescope used. A brief note on your process is a bonus.
Grab your camera, find a dark sky, and show us the universe through your lens.
