Opportunity brief
NOTE:- Registration fees of ₹50 per team is mandatory for participating
About The Event:
- Messi Lines is a high-octane, head-to-head robot football tournament where teams design, build, and program autonomous/semi-autonomous robots to compete on a custom pitch.
- Robots must dynamically detect and interact with the ball, navigate the field, maneuver around obstacles, and score goals while defending their own post.
- The event bridges mechanical design, sensor automation, real-time control programming, and strategy, incorporating key themes from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure — Fosters practical application of engineering, robotics, control systems, and hardware design.
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities — Highlights intelligent robotic systems operating adaptively within dynamic, real-world environments.
Round Wise Details:
Qualifying Stage:
- Format: Time-trial / Skill evaluation & preliminary matches.
- Mechanism: Robots demonstrate basic mobility, ball detection, control agility, and scoring accuracy to determine match seeding for the main knockout bracket.
Head-to-Head Matches & Finales:
- Format: 1v1 / Multi-robot competitive matches.
- Mechanism: Seeding-qualified robots face off on the football arena in real time. Teams compete to score maximum goals against opposing robots within fixed match halves while maintaining active defense.
- Evaluation Criteria: Match scoring, defense agility, strategic maneuvering, mechanical innovation, control programming, and technical presentation.
Rules And Guidelines:
Team Composition:
- Teams must consist of 1 to 5 members.
Robot Specifications & Weight Limit:
- Each team may field one robot on the pitch at a time.
- Maximum permissible weight for the robot is 7 kg.
- Robots must possess functional mechanisms to push, dribble, or kick the ball effectively into the goalpost.
Hazards & Safety Restrictions:
- Flammable materials, hazardous chemical power units, untethered pneumatic bursts, or high-risk actuators are strictly prohibited.
Fair Play & Sportsmanship:
- Intentional physical damage, deliberate metal-to-metal destruction, or prolonged unsportsmanlike stalling of opposing robots is strictly forbidden and results in penalties or disqualification.
- Cheating, unauthorized transmitter frequency interference, or rule violations will lead to instant expulsion.
Final Authority:
- The decision of the judges and organizing committee regarding match rulings, fouls, and technical specifications is final and binding.
- For detailed dimensional limits, refer to the official event rulebook.
