Jack of All Trades is Barcode's on-campus competition by The Corporate Presentation Team in collaboration with Events Cell, SIMS , built to test the qualities that define an effective manager and future corporate leader. Participants are challenged across strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, entrepreneurship, communication, decision making, problem solving, creativity, and adaptability.
This year, the competition unfolds as an action-packed one-day event with multiple rounds, each testing a different dimension of managerial and business acumen. You will need to think creatively under pressure, pitch your ideas persuasively, and coordinate with your team as the situation shifts around you.
It is not just about what you know, but how you think, respond, and tell your story when real-world business challenges are thrown your way.
GUIDELINES
- Eligibility: Open to all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students across India.
- Participation: Team participation only (Team of 3).
- Mode: First Round Online and the rest on campus.
- Duration: One day.
- Venue: SIMS Pune / Barcode.
- The competition will consist of multiple rounds, with participants progressing based on their performance.
- Each round will assess different entrepreneurial, analytical, strategic, interpersonal, or decision making skills.
- Round specific instructions, time limits, and evaluation criteria will be shared by the organizers before each round.
- Participants must report at the venue within the stipulated reporting time.
- A valid college or student ID must be carried for verification.
- Students from different colleges and academic specializations can participate individually.
- Participants must follow all instructions provided by the organizing committee.
FORMAT
Judging Criteria
Participants will be evaluated on:
- How convincingly they pitch their ideas and win the room over
- How well they understand and apply business concepts
- How confidently they deliver their message and engage the audience
- How accurately they draw on the details of the case
- How well they anticipate the risks and limitations in their own solutions
The competition will conclude with the selection of participants who demonstrate strong overall entrepreneurial capabilities.
Stages and Timelines
- Round 1: Unstop Quiz - Online, Assessment Round A multiple-choice quiz featuring 20 questions on business movies, TV shows, and current business news. Teams have 10 minutes to answer, with 30 seconds per question.
- Round 2: Elevate X - Offline Round | On Campus
- Round 3: Story Forge - The Ultimate Narrative Challenge - Offline Round | On Campus
Rules:
- Participation is strictly in a Team of 3.
- Teams must follow the instructions provided for each round.
- Late reporting may result in disqualification or denial of participation in a round.
- Participants must carry a valid student or college ID.
- Cheating, malpractice, plagiarism, unauthorized assistance, use of AI, or any unfair means will result in immediate disqualification.
- Participants must maintain professional conduct throughout the competition.
- Electronic devices may be allowed during specific rounds.
- The organizers reserve the right to make necessary changes to the schedule or format in case of unforeseen circumstances.
- The decision of the organizing committee and judges will be final and binding.
Quiz Format (Round 1)
- 20 MCQs based on business movies, business-themed TV shows, and current business news & trends.
- Each question has four options with only one correct answer.
Time Allocation
- Teams get a total of 10 minutes to complete the quiz.
- Each question must be answered within 30 seconds.
- The quiz will auto-submit once the timer runs out.
Rules of Conduct
- Teams must log in 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.
- Use of external help, mobile devices, or internet search during the quiz is strictly prohibited.
- Use of AI tools or generative AI platforms (ChatGPT or any other AI-based assistance) is strictly prohibited at every stage of the competition, including preparation time in Rounds 2 and 3.
- Each team must attempt the quiz on a single device.
- All rounds must be attempted using only the resources and information provided on the spot.
Tie-Breaker
- The team with the fastest overall completion time will be ranked higher.
Disqualification
- Any violation of the above rules - including any use of AI assistance will lead to immediate disqualification.
- Decisions taken by the organizing committee will be final and binding
