Opportunity brief

The Worst Product Wins:

Turn The Impossible Into Irresistible.

Introduction:

Pitch Perfect: The Worst Product Wins is a fun and creative pitching competition where participants are challenged to turn the most useless, ridiculous, or impractical product into the next big business idea.

Participants will receive an absurd product idea and must convince the judges that their terrible product is actually innovative, desirable, and worth investing in. They will have limited time to build a complete business concept around the product and present it through a creative pitch.

The catch? The worse the product, the better the pitch needs to be!

Round 1 — The Pitch: "Sell The Impossible":

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Pitch Time: 5–7 minutes per team

Q&A: 2–3 minutes

Each team will be given a sealed chit/product brief. One member from every team will come forward and randomly pick a chit.

The chit will contain all the information required for the challenge, such as:

  • Product: A bizarre/useless product
  • Target Audience
  • Price Range

Teams will get 15 minutes to develop their pitch.

Their pitch should cover:

  • Product introduction
  • Problem being addressed
  • Target audience
  • USP and other relevant things.

After the pitch, judges will have 2–3 minutes for cross-questioning.

Objective: Convince the judges that your terrible product is actually a brilliant business opportunity.

Round 2 — "The Crisis Room":

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Presentation Time: 5–7 minutes

Q&A: 2–3 minutes

The teams will continue with the same product from Round 1.

This time, instead of pitching the product, they will be given a real-world problem/crisis related to it.

The problem could involve:

  • Falling sales
  • A new competitor
  • Budget cuts
  • Customer complaints
  • Negative publicity
  • A change in regulations
  • Supply-chain problems
  • A failed marketing campaign
  • Losing their target audience

Break — 15 Minutes

Round 3 — "Ad Mad Show":

  • Preparation Time: 25 minutes
  • Performance Time: 3–5 minutes per team

Now the participants have to sell their product through an advertisement.

They can create:

  • A skit
  • TV commercial
  • Jingle
  • Mini story or anything they are comfortable with.

But here's the twist:

They cannot simply repeat their Round 1 pitch.

They need to create an actual advertisement designed to make people want the product.

They should include:

  • Brand name
  • Tagline
  • Product USP
  • Call to action
