Opportunity brief

Greetings from Team Optumiz, Operations & Supply Chain Cell, NMIMS Mumbai! We are excited to announce the upcoming edition of our bi-annual magazine, Catena Aurea, exploring the theme "Resilient by Design: Technology as the New Supply Chain Advantage."

In an era where disruption has become the new normal, businesses are rethinking the foundations of their supply chains. From geopolitical uncertainties and fluctuating demand to climate risks and evolving customer expectations, organizations must move beyond optimizing for cost and efficiency to building systems that are agile, adaptive, and resilient.

Technology is at the heart of this transformation. Artificial Intelligence, digital twins, predictive analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and intelligent automation are reshaping how organizations anticipate disruptions, respond to uncertainty, and make critical operational decisions. The focus is no longer simply on recovering from disruptions, but on designing supply chains that can foresee risks, adapt dynamically, and maintain continuity in an increasingly unpredictable world.

Through this edition of Catena Aurea, we aim to explore how technology is redefining supply chain resilience, strengthening operational agility, and creating sustainable competitive advantages. We invite contributors to examine the innovations, strategies, and frameworks that are enabling organizations to build supply chains that are not just efficient, but resilient by design.

We invite articles on the following sub-themes:

- Predictive by Design: AI and Advanced Analytics for Supply Chain Resilience Exploring how AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics enable organizations to anticipate disruptions, forecast demand fluctuations, identify emerging risks, and make proactive decisions. - The Digital Twin Advantage: Simulating Disruptions, Strengthening Decisions Examining how digital twins, simulation technologies, and scenario planning help organizations test alternative strategies, assess vulnerabilities, and build more adaptive supply chain networks. - Beyond Visibility: Building Intelligent and Connected Supply Chains Delving into the role of IoT, real-time tracking, control towers, and integrated digital platforms in enabling end-to-end visibility, faster response times, and coordinated decision-making. - Resilience in Motion: Rethinking Sourcing, Networks, and Logistics Investigating how technology is transforming supplier diversification, inventory positioning, network design, and logistics planning to balance cost efficiency with risk preparedness. - The Human–Technology Equation: Leadership in an Era of Intelligent Operations Analyzing how organizations can combine human judgment with AI-driven insights, strengthen digital capabilities, and establish effective governance to navigate uncertainty. - Sustainable by Design: Technology at the Intersection of Resilience and Sustainability Exploring how digital innovation supports circular supply chains, resource optimization, emissions reduction, and long-term operational sustainability. - From Efficiency to Agility: Technology as a Competitive Advantage Examining how organizations are moving beyond traditional efficiency-driven models to develop agile operating models, respond faster to market shifts, and create enduring business value.

While these sub-themes serve as starting points, we welcome original perspectives, industry case studies, emerging trends, research-backed insights, and innovative ideas on any topic related to technology, supply chain resilience, and operational agility.

Be part of the conversation shaping the future of supply chains. Contribute to Catena Aurea and share your perspective on how technology is enabling businesses to thrive amid uncertainty.

Note: The top three winning articles will be published in our magazine, and winners will receive e-certificates and cash prizes totaling Rs. 9,000!
