Opportunity brief

Gravity doesn't negotiate, and neither does this challenge. Eggstravaganza puts your engineering instincts to the ultimate test, tasking you with building a contraption tough enough to protect a raw egg through a serious fall. It's part physics, part precision, and entirely unforgiving; one crack and it's over. Build smart, build sturdy, and find out if your design has what it takes to survive the drop.

Rules and Regulations:

  • This is a team event open only to college and university students.
  • Each team can have a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 1 participant.
  • Cross-college participation is allowed.
  • Further information about judgment criteria is available after registering.
  • This is an event comprising two rounds. Both event rounds will be held offline at IIT Kharagpur from November 7th to 9th.
  • Further instructions for the second round will be communicated in due time.
  • The egg MUST NOT be fully covered, and a decent chunk (~50%) of the egg MUST BE visible.
  • If a parachute is used, it MUST NOT be bigger than 10 inches in diameter.
  • The use of propulsion IS NOT allowed.
  • Use of kits IS NOT permitted.
  • Use of any electronic component IS NOT permitted.
  • Taping the egg to the contraption IS NOT allowed.
  • The eggs will be provided to participants at the venue, and no participant is allowed to bring their own eggs pre-fixed/glued to the contraption.
  • All the contraptions (with the egg) should fit in a cubic box measuring 15 inches on each side. Any contraption not satisfying this criterion will be immediately disqualified.
  • All contraptions must be robustly built and equipped with a secure anchor point. This point is for attaching a hook that will release the contraption from its deployment location.

Generating Team ID and Participant IDs:

  • Each participant will get a participant ID in the format 26-xxxxxx (26 followed by 6 digits). Please note that this does NOT constitute the team ID. Participant IDs for all concerned participants must be submitted on Unstop, separated by commas.
  • Go to Eggstravaganza (nssc.in/events/eggstravaganza) and register as a team (if you haven't already). Once your team's registration is confirmed, your team will be assigned a team ID in the format T-xxxxxxx (T followed by 7 digits). This will be the ID associated with your team for the rest of the event, and this is the ID you need to enter under "Team ID" during registration on Unstop.

Please note that entering your team ID on Unstop is mandatory to be considered for the next stage of the selection process. Otherwise, you won't be eligible to qualify for the next rounds, irrespective of your performance in this round.
