About
The India @ 71/100 Challenge is a national innovation competition by Techfest, IIT Bombay, that asks students to close the gap between India's development scorecard and the lived reality of underserved communities. With India scoring 71/100 on the NITI Aayog SDG India Index 2023-24, the policies and infrastructure largely exist; what's missing is consistent, ground-level implementation. Teams pick one of three themes, Maternal & Early Childhood Nutrition, Foundational Learning Outcomes, or Financial Inclusion & Meaningful Banking Access, and design a practical, evidence-based, scalable solution that strengthens what's already there. Bring your idea to life at Techfest, IIT Bombay, Asia's largest science and technology festival.
Structure
The competition will be held in two rounds, with Round 2 as an on-site final presentation at Techfest, IIT Bombay.
Eligibility: Open to all students with a valid institutional ID. Cross-institutional teams are permitted.
Team size: Maximum 4 members are allowed in one team
Round 1: Concept Proposal Submission
Teams submit a concise proposal covering problem identification, supporting evidence, existing ecosystem analysis, proposed solution, and expected impact.
Round 2: Final Presentations at Techfest IIT Bombay
The top teams will present their solutions at Techfest, IIT Bombay before a panel of judges, where the winners will be announced.

Round 1 Shortlist announcement - 8th November
Finals - 16th-18th December 2026
Rules
Every team has to register online on the official Techfest website for the competition. A Team ID will be allocated to the team on registration, which shall be used for future references.
Solutions must be original and must not be protected by existing patents, copyrights, or publications.
The decision of the organizers or judges shall be treated as final and binding on all. Techfest reserves the right to verify participant details submitted by teams.
No responsibility will be held by Techfest, IIT Bombay for any late, lost, or misdirected entries.
Note that at any point in time the latest information will be that which is on the website; however, registered participants will be informed through mail about any changes.
All technical, procedural, and competition-related queries must be submitted directly through the Techfest Competition Portal under the Doubt section. Participants are strictly requested to regularly check the portal for answers and updates
