Opportunity brief
Overview:
CADathon is a competitive Computer-Aided Design challenge that tests participants on 3D CAD modelling accuracy, speed, precision, and problem-solving ability. Participants will be challenged to recreate given 3D models within a limited time, with the difficulty increasing as the competition progresses.
Participants are free to use any CAD software of their choice, provided they can submit the required model files and measurements in the specified format.

Competition Format:
The competition will be conducted in two rounds:
Round 1 — Online Qualification
- All registered participants will compete remotely.
- Participants will receive a reference 3D model and approximately 1–2 hours to recreate it.
- Participants must submit the STEP file of their recreated model and its final volume through the designated submission forms.
- The STEP file will be used to verify the geometric accuracy of the model, while the final volume will serve as a quantitative measure of accuracy.
- The timestamp of the Final Volume Google Form will be considered the official submission time. The STEP-file submission timestamp will not be used to determine submission speed.
- Both submissions are mandatory.
- Participants will be evaluated based on accuracy and submission time.
- The top 8 participants will qualify for the live CAD Battle.
Round 2 — Live 1v1 CAD Battle
- The top 8 participants will compete in a head-to-head knockout format.
- Two participants will receive the same reference model and begin modelling simultaneously.
- The winner of each battle will be determined based on accuracy and time taken.
- Winners will progress through the Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Final, with a separate match to determine third place.
- The models will become progressively more complex as participants advance through the competition.
- The exact time limit for each live battle will be communicated before the competition.
Key Rules:
- Participants must recreate the model provided by the organizers within the specified time.
- Any CAD software may be used.
- Only the participant's own work may be submitted.
- Participants must follow the specified submission format and deadlines.
- Unauthorized assistance or unfair means may result in disqualification.
- Detailed evaluation tolerances and technical instructions will be communicated before the respective rounds.
- The organizing committee's decision regarding qualification, accuracy, rule violations, and competition results will be final.
