Opportunity brief
About the Opportunity: Marque, the Marketing Club of IIM Rohtak, invites you to feature your article in the upcoming edition of its monthly magazine, Insights. This edition explores "The Rise of Invisible Marketing", where brands influence consumers without appearing to market to them directly. Marketing today is becoming increasingly difficult to recognize. Consumers skip advertisements, install ad blockers, and scroll past promotional content within seconds. In response, brands have evolved beyond traditional advertising, embedding themselves into entertainment, social conversations, creator content, and recommendation algorithms. From subtle product placements in films and influencer gifting campaigns to native advertisements and AI-powered recommendations, marketing is becoming less visible yet more influential. In today's attention economy, persuasion often happens without consumers consciously realizing they are being marketed to. Themes: 1. When Ads Disappear Traditional advertisements are giving way to seamless brand integrations that blend naturally into the content people consume. Explore how product placements, branded entertainment, native advertising, and algorithm-driven recommendations are reshaping the way brands communicate. Is invisible marketing the future of advertising, or does it make commercial influence harder to recognize? 2. Influence Without Disclosure Creators, influencers, and digital platforms increasingly shape consumer decisions through content that often blurs the boundary between authentic recommendations and paid promotions. Analyze how influencer seeding, affiliate marketing, sponsored content, and platform algorithms impact consumer trust. Where should the line between genuine influence and advertising be drawn? 3. The Ethics of Hidden Persuasion Invisible marketing offers brands powerful ways to engage audiences without disrupting their experiences, but it also raises important ethical concerns. Discuss whether subtle persuasion enhances consumer experience or undermines informed decision-making. How can brands balance creativity, transparency, and responsibility while building meaningful consumer relationships? As marketing becomes increasingly integrated into the content, platforms, and experiences consumers engage with every day, understanding the power and ethics of invisible influence has never been more important. We invite you to examine how brands capture attention without appearing promotional, the opportunities this creates, and the responsibilities it demands in an increasingly algorithm-driven world. Share your insights. Shape the conversation. Submission Guidelines: Submit an article under any one of the three themes. Mention the selected sub-theme at the beginning of your article.
