Overview:
Topic Assignment:
- The topic is provided live at the venue. Participants do not receive the topic in advance.
Arguing Both Sides:
- Each participant must present arguments for one side of the topic and then switch to argue the opposing perspective.
Buzzer / Switch Mechanism:
- A buzzer is used during the competition.
- When the judges press the buzzer, the participant must immediately switch to the opposing position, adapt their argument on the spot, and continue presenting from the opposite perspective.
- The timing and frequency of switches are strictly controlled by the judges.
Preparation & Restrictions:
- Participants cannot use notes, scripts, or external resources during their performance.
Penalties & Disqualification:
- Failure to Switch: Refusing or failing to switch positions when instructed by the judges may result in removal or disqualification.
- Running Out of Arguments: Stopping prematurely or running out of meaningful arguments will result in mark deductions.
