Global Equity Investing Championship (GEIC) 2026 The Global Equity Investing Championship (GEIC) 2026 is an international virtual stock investing competition designed for aspiring investors, finance students, career switchers, and market enthusiasts to test their investing skills in a real market environment using virtual capital. Participants will compete by building and managing a virtual equity portfolio based on real-time US stock market performance. Organized by Valuation Master Class Competition Format: Starting Capital: Virtual Capital: US$100,000 Trading Fee: US$10 per trade Benchmark Index: S&P 500 (market close of June 5 used as starting benchmark) Trading Platform: Platform: MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange Game Link: GEIC Trading Platform Trading Rules: Long-only investing strategy allowed No short selling No leverage/margin trading Only US-listed stocks allowed (NYSE & NASDAQ) Only individual stocks permitted ETFs, mutual funds, and other funds are not allowed Participants may hold partial cash positions Portfolio Requirements: Minimum 5 holdings required by June 15 Participants must maintain at least 5 core positions at all times from June 15 onward Each core position must have a minimum initial trade value of US$5,000 If the market value falls below US$5,000 after entry, no action is required Core positions can be closed only if replaced with another eligible US$5,000+ position before the trading day ends Additional positions beyond the required 5 may be opened with any amount Trading Hours: US Market Hours: 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET Limit orders may be placed anytime Competition Timeline: June 8, 2026 – Soft Start Trading opens and participants can begin building positions. June 15, 2026 – Hard Start Participants must have: Minimum 5 active positions At least US$25,000 invested August 7, 2026 – Competition Ends Final portfolio values will determine rankings and winners.
