CRUX – Consulting & Research Undertaking Club at XLRI is proud to present Orion 2026, the flagship case study competition of Synergy 2026, XLRI's annual fest. Designed to challenge aspiring consultants and future business leaders, Orion provides a platform to apply strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and creative problem-solving to real-world business challenges.
About Orion 2026
Orion 2026 invites participants to step into the shoes of consultants, dissect complex business problems, and develop innovative, data-driven, and actionable solutions. The competition aims to test participants' ability to structure ambiguous problems, formulate strategic recommendations, and translate ideas into practical business plans that deliver measurable impact.
Competition Structure
The competition will follow a three-round format, progressively testing participants' knowledge, analytical abilities, and communication skills.
Round 1: Business Quiz
Teams will compete in a quiz designed to test their business acumen, analytical thinking, and understanding of business concepts. The top-performing teams will advance to the next round.
Round 2: Case Study Submission
Qualified teams will receive a real-world business case and be tasked with developing a comprehensive solution. Teams must submit a single-slide (one-pager) summarizing their problem diagnosis, key insights, strategic recommendations, and implementation roadmap in a concise, visually compelling format.
Round 3: Case Presentation
The top-performing teams will present their solutions to an esteemed jury during a virtual presentation. Each team must prepare a 4 slide presentation and will have 10 minutes to present, followed by a 3-minute Q&A session to showcase their analytical depth, strategic recommendations, and ability to communicate and defend their ideas effectively.
Judging Criteria
Submissions and presentations will be evaluated on the following parameters:
- Quality of Solution
- Practicality and Feasibility
- Presentation Skills
- Communication Skills
