Essay Competition

Description:

The Essay Competition is an online individual writing competition conducted across four thematic tracks based on the festival's online lectures. Participants must select one approved track and write an original essay addressing the specified topic or prompt.

Each submission will be reviewed for topic relevance, originality, quality of reasoning, structure, clarity, use of supporting evidence, and adherence to the specified format and word limit. Eligible submissions will be evaluated according to the published judging criteria, with one winner selected from each of the four thematic tracks.

Participants must submit their final essays through the designated submission platform before the announced deadline.

Rules & Guidelines:

• Eligibility
• Participation is individual.
• Participants must satisfy the eligibility requirements specified in the official event announcement.
• Participants must provide accurate registration details.
• Each participant may submit only within the permitted track and submission limits.
• Track Selection
• The competition will have four thematic tracks.
• Participants must select one approved track.
• The submitted essay must directly address the topic/prompt associated with the selected track.
• A participant should not submit multiple entries across different tracks unless explicitly permitted by the organizers.
• Essay Requirements
• The essay must be original work created by the participant.
• The essay must follow the specified topic, word limit, format and submission requirements.
• The essay should demonstrate clear reasoning, relevant arguments and appropriate supporting evidence.
• Content that is unrelated to the selected theme may be considered non-compliant.
• Sources & References
• Participants may use relevant sources where permitted by the competition rules.
• External information, quotations, data or ideas must be appropriately attributed.
• Participants must not present another person's work or ideas as their own.
• Fabricated sources or deliberately misleading references may result in disqualification.
• AI-Assisted Writing
• The use of AI tools must follow the official competition policy.
• If AI assistance is restricted or disclosure is required, participants must follow those requirements.
• Participants remain responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of their submitted work.
• Submission
• The final essay must be submitted through the designated submission platform.
• Participants must submit before the official deadline.
• The required file format and naming convention must be followed.
• Once the submission deadline closes, modifications will not be accepted unless the organizers explicitly provide a correction window.
• Originality & Plagiarism
• Plagiarism, copied content, impersonation or unauthorized use of another participant's work is prohibited.
• Organizers may conduct originality/similarity checks.
• Submissions that fail the originality requirements may be rejected or disqualified.
• Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated using the published rubric, which may include:

• Relevance to the selected theme
• Originality of ideas
• Quality of analysis and reasoning
• Structure and organization
• Clarity of writing
• Use of evidence/references
• Adherence to word limit and formatting requirements

The final scoring weights should be published before judging begins.

• Winners
• One winner will be selected from each of the four thematic tracks.
• Winners will be finalized after judging and verification.
• In case of a tie, the published tie-break criteria will be applied consistently.
• Disqualification

A submission may be disqualified for:

• Violation of eligibility requirements
• Plagiarism or unauthorized copying
• Submission after the deadline
• Incorrect or incomplete submission
• Multiple unauthorized submissions
• Misrepresentation of sources or participant identity
• Violation of the competition's AI-use policy
• Any other violation of the published competition rules
• Organizer's Decision

The organizers may verify eligibility, originality and compliance before announcing the final results. The final verified results will be communicated through the official event channel.
