Opportunity brief
Fault Hunt:
Official Event Rulebook · Concetto 2026:
Overview:
Fault Hunt is a circuit-analysis and troubleshooting event. Teams find faults in LTspice circuits and justify their findings through systematic analysis.
The event has two rounds:
- Round 1 – Preliminary Individual Quiz
- Round 2 – Circuit Fault Analysis
Prerequisites:
- Participants must have LTspice installed on their laptop before the event.
- Windows: Download LTspice
- macOS: Download LTspice
Event Structure:
- Round 1: Preliminary Quiz — 30 Minutes — Top 10 Teams
- Round 2: Circuit Fault Analysis (LTspice) — 90 Minutes — —
Eligibility & Team Specifications:
- Open to students from all branches.
- Team size: 1–3 members.
- Each team must have a unique team name.
- A participant may be part of only one team.
- Teams must remain unchanged throughout the event.
Round 1 – Preliminary Quiz:
- The quiz is conducted individually, not team-wise.
- Duration: 30 minutes.
- Questions cover fundamental electronics and circuit analysis.
- Collaboration between team members during the quiz is not permitted.
Team Score = Sum of individual scores ÷ Number of team members
The top 10 teams based on this score qualify for Round 2.
Round 2 – Circuit Fault Analysis:
- Duration: 90 minutes.
- All qualified teams receive the same LTspice circuit files containing intentional faults.
- Teams must identify the faulty component(s) or connection(s), support the finding with simulation results, and explain the cause.
- Internet is permitted for datasheets and references only.
- Teams submit a short fault report along with their LTspice files before time ends.
Evaluation Criteria:
The emphasis is not only on finding the correct fault, but on how the team reaches it and explains its reasoning.
- Accuracy of Fault Identification — 30
- Troubleshooting Approach & Logical Reasoning — 25
- Use of LTspice Simulation & Measurements — 20
- Clarity & Quality of Explanation — 15
- Handling of Questions — 10
- Total — 100
Rules & Regulations:
- Teams must consist of 1–3 members.
- Round 1 must be attempted individually by every team member.
- The top 10 teams qualify for Round 2.
- Solutions must be the team's own work.
- Plagiarism, cheating or misconduct may result in disqualification.
