About the Event:

Innovation X is an intensive innovation sprint where participants identify real-world problems and develop working technological solutions. The event focuses on creativity, technical execution, rapid prototyping, teamwork, and presentation skills. Teams work through the complete product-development process, from ideation and problem validation to MVP development and final pitching.

Problem Statement:

Design and build a robot that can reliably follow a person, recognizing and responding to changes in direction, pace, and context.

The robot should interpret intent and adapt to dynamic environments.

Participants are encouraged to explore diverse approaches to sensing, tracking, and navigation with real-world applicability.

Robot Specifications:

  • The robot must be fully autonomous without requiring human intervention during the run.
  • Maximum dimensions: 250mm x 250mm x 250mm (LxBxH) with a 5% tolerance; exceeding this may lead to disqualification.
  • Robot may be battery-operated; total voltage must not exceed 24V DC.
  • Use of pre-built kits is not allowed; individual parts like chassis and wheels are permitted, with custom-built designs encouraged.
  • Use of sensors and cameras is allowed.

Gameplay:

The robot must autonomously complete the run without manual control.

Two stages:

Stage 1: PPT Presentation Round

Stage 2: Final Round

Rules and Regulations:

  • Only teams qualifying Stage 1 are eligible for Stage 2.
  • Robots exceeding size limits may be heavily penalized or disqualified, per judges' decisions.
  • Organizers may disqualify teams for safety concerns or rule violations.
  • Participants must present valid student identity cards.
  • Manual interference during the run will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Violating rules or engaging in unfair practices may lead to disqualification.
  • Misconduct towards judges may result in disqualification.
  • Valid student ID is mandatory for all team members.
  • Misbehaviour may result in disqualification, and the coordinators' decision will be final.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Functionality – Accuracy and efficiency of the bot in following the human.
  • Innovation – Uniqueness in approach, components, or algorithm design.
  • Presentation – Clarity and structure of the PPT in Stage 1.
  • Tech Relevance – Integration of current issues and proposed advancements.
  • Robustness – Stability and consistency during the live demonstration.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Diploma and Undergraduate (UG) students of any branch from recognized engineering colleges.

Team Specification:

  • Each team can have a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 1 member; inter-college teams are not allowed unless from outside the institute.
  • Teams must designate a team captain for communication with coordinators.

Judging Criteria:

  • Innovation & Originality
  • Technical Feasibility & Execution
  • Working Prototype / Functionalit
  • Presentation & Q&A
  • Teamwork and overall implementation quality

Judge's Decision is Final:

The judges' decision will be final and will be based on the specified judging criteria, technical correctness, and overall performance.

Certification Policy:

  • Certificates will be provided to all the participants.
  • Certificate of Excellence will be provided to the winners, as per the results declared by the judges.
