Opportunity brief
Competition Description
Step into the world of strategy, business, and decision-making, where every choice has consequences and every move can create an opportunity.
This competition challenges participants to think critically, understand market dynamics, and make strategic decisions under pressure. Combining a knowledge-based quiz with an immersive bidding and brand-building challenge, it tests both conceptual understanding and practical business acumen.
Participants will progress through two rounds, moving from testing their knowledge and reasoning to applying their skills in a competitive business simulation.
Think strategically. Bid wisely. Build intelligently.
Round 1: Online Quiz
The first round is an elimination-based online quiz designed to assess participants' knowledge, logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
The quiz will feature a diverse mix of questions covering business and economics concepts, marketing psychology, consumer behaviour, logical reasoning, and real-world business scenarios.
Participants will be required to go beyond theoretical knowledge, interpret situations, identify patterns, and choose appropriate solutions under time constraints.
Format:
- 20 questions
- 30-minute duration
- Multiple-choice, logical reasoning, and scenario-based questions
- No negative marking
- One attempt per team
Performance in this round will determine qualification for the next stage.
Round 2: The Bidding Challenge
The second round takes participants into a competitive business simulation where strategic thinking, resource allocation, and calculated decision-making become essential.
Teams will receive a fixed amount of virtual capital and compete to acquire business assets through a bidding process. Each asset offers distinct advantages and trade-offs, requiring participants to balance their ambitions with their available resources.
Using their acquired assets, teams must develop a viable business, establish their market positioning, and demonstrate how their resources work together to create a competitive advantage.
The challenge extends beyond bidding, requiring teams to justify their decisions, manage constraints, and respond strategically to unexpected market developments.
The objective is not simply to acquire the most expensive assets, but to make intelligent investments and build a business capable of succeeding in a competitive market.
Teams will be evaluated on their strategic decisions, resource management, business viability, adaptability, and overall performance.
