Opportunity brief
Rube Wars: Plan. Build. Test. Fail. Fix. Complete the chain.
An engineering challenge where creativity, mechanical thinking, precision, reliability and problem-solving come together to build a continuous chain reaction.
Event Type: Critical Thinking / Engineering / Hardware / Competition / Innovation
Guidelines:
Eligibility
- Open to students from colleges and universities across India.
- Team size: 3 to 4 members.
About the Event
- The chain reaction starts from one designated initial trigger.
- Each team uses 6 to 9 mechanisms selected from the official list.
- The action must transfer from one mechanism to the next and end by completing the assigned target.
- The machine must run without manual intervention during the final evaluation.
Challenge Format
- Number of problem statements: 1 (build a continuous chain reaction that completes the assigned target).
- Duration of rounds: 45-60 min
Evaluation
- The machine is evaluated on the official 100-mark scoring system.
- Repeatability is considered: machines that complete the sequence consistently across multiple attempts score higher.
Rules:
- The machine must be initiated from the designated starting point.
- The chain reaction must proceed continuously.
- No manual intervention is permitted during the run.
- The machine must successfully complete the assigned target.
- Only 6 to 9 mechanisms from the official list may be used.
- The complete rulebook (PDF) is attached.
