Opportunity brief
Continuum 2026 Hackathon is a two-round Open Innovation competition by NEXSUS at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur. The hackathon invites student teams to identify meaningful real-world problems and develop innovative solutions that may be software-based, hardware-based, or hybrid/interdisciplinary.
The competition consists of an online idea-submission round followed by an offline grand finale at MMMUT, Gorakhpur.
Round 1 — Online Idea Submission
Participants must submit either an Idea Abstract or Idea Presentation (PPT) explaining:
- Problem statement and relevance
- Proposed solution
- Innovation and originality
- Technical approach
- Feasibility
- Expected impact
- Scalability
A completed prototype is not mandatory for Round 1.
Round 2 — Offline Grand Finale
Shortlisted Teams Will Report Physically at Mmmut, Gorakhpur For:
- Team Verification
- Orientation
- Preliminary Idea/technical Presentation
- Technical Interaction
- Verification of Existing/baseline Work
The 12-Hour Build Sprint schedule Will Be Released Later.
Final Evaluation — 100 Marks
- Problem Understanding & Relevance — 10
- Innovation & Originality — 20
- Technical Implementation — 25
- Functionality / Working Prototype — 15
- Feasibility & Scalability — 10
- Impact / Practical Utility — 10
- Final Demonstration & Presentation — 10
Ai Usage
AI-Assisted Tools Are Permitted for Coding, Debugging, Research, Ideation, Documentation, Design and Development Assistance, Provided They Are Used Responsibly.
Teams Must Be Able to Explain, Defend, and Demonstrate Every Major Component of Their Solution.
Copying Another Team's Solution or Submitting Someone Else's Code/product as One's Own Is Prohibited. Open-Source Libraries, Frameworks, APIs, Models, and Public Development Resources May Be Used Where Permitted, with Relevant Use Disclosed.
Previously Developed Personal Components Must Also Be Disclosed.
Hardware & Hybrid Projects
Hardware and Hybrid Projects Are Welcome. Teams Will Be Evaluated Fairly on Demonstrated Engineering Progress. Working Subsystems, Circuits/prototypes, Simulations, Architecture, Integration Progress and Demonstrated Functionality May Be Considered Where a Fully Fabricated Product Is Not Feasible Within the 12-Hour Sprint.
Final Submission
Teams Must Provide:
- Project / Solution Title
- Concise Project Description
- Project Repository or Relevant Source/design Files
- Working Prototype or Demonstrable Implementation, Where Applicable
- Technology Stack
- Architecture / Implementation Summary
- Declaration of Major Pre-Existing, Open-Source and Ai-Assisted Components
- Final Presentation and Required Backup Demonstration Material
Jury
Evaluation Will Be Conducted by A Panel Comprising Industry Experts, Working Professionals, Domain Specialists and Experienced/senior Faculty Members.
The Decision of The Authorized Jury and Organizing Committee Regarding Evaluation-Related Matters Shall Be Final.
