Opportunity brief
Overview
What if you could turn a sport nobody is watching into the next big business?
Sportonomics is not just a case competition. It is a challenge to spot an opportunity where others see none.
Shortlisted teams will be given a sport with untapped business potential, from archery and judo to karate and beyond. Your task? Build an entire business around it.
You decide where the opportunity lies. You decide what the business should look like. You decide how to make it profitable.
We will give you a common framework to work with, but the rest is yours: your research, your strategy, your business model, and your creativity.
And then comes the real test.
The Market
Each team will pitch its venture to a panel of judges, who will evaluate every business on key parameters, including market research, business strategy, viability, and potential for growth.
But judges aren't the only ones deciding.
Every participating team will receive a fictitious ₹10 lakh investment pool and become an investor in the Sportonomics market. You can distribute your investment across the ventures you believe have the greatest potential, backing the ideas you would actually invest in.
The judges will do the same.
These investments become your market validation.
So, Who Wins?
The team that doesn't just build the most creative idea, but proves that its idea has real business potential.
Because in Sportonomics, a great pitch isn't enough. You have to build something people believe is worth investing in.
Find the Opportunity. Build the Business. Win the Market.
Welcome to Sportonomics.

- Judge Q&A: 5 minutes
The Sportonomics Investment Simulation
The final round goes beyond a conventional case presentation.
Each shortlisted team will receive a fictitious investment corpus of ₹10 lakh and will take on the role of an investor in the Sportonomics market.
As the presentations unfold, teams will evaluate the other ventures and decide where they want to invest their capital based on the strength, viability, and potential of the business models presented.
At the same time, the judges will receive an investment corpus and independently invest in the ventures they believe demonstrate the strongest potential.
All investments will remain confidential throughout the round. Once the investment window closes, the investments will be revealed and incorporated into the final scoring.
Your final standing will therefore reflect not only the quality of your case, but also:
- How convincingly you present your idea
- How strongly the judges believe in it
- How effectively you read the market and invest your capital
The final results will be determined through the Sportonomics scoring and investment simulation mechanism, culminating in the final leaderboard and Top 3 podium finishes.
