Opportunity brief

The Finance and Investment Cell of Jesus and Mary College is proud to present the fourth edition of Bahulya, a premier finance case competition that challenges participants to showcase their analytical acumen, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

This year's edition explores one of the world's biggest sporting spectacles through a financial lens: the feasibility of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2030 in India. Participants will be required to navigate the complexities of large-scale infrastructure investment, financing, revenue generation, commercial opportunities, and long-term economic viability.

This Year's Theme: The Feasibility of Hosting the FIFA World Cup in India

  • India is evaluating the feasibility of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2030, presenting an ambitious opportunity to combine sporting development with large-scale economic and infrastructural growth.
  • Participants will assess whether the potential economic and social value generated by the tournament can justify the significant investment required.
  • The case will require teams to evaluate market demand, revenue potential, capital expenditure, financing structures, host cities, infrastructure, commercial innovation, social impact, risk management, and post-event utilisation.
  • Teams will be expected to build a financially sound and strategically viable roadmap for hosting the tournament while ensuring that the infrastructure and investments remain sustainable beyond 2030.
  • No prior knowledge of FIFA is required, only strong financial reasoning, strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • All rounds are eliminative.
  • Open to all undergraduate students of the University of Delhi, across colleges, years, and disciplines.
  • Cross-college and cross-discipline teams are permitted.
