Opportunity brief

About the Competition

Think fast, code smarter! Spin2Build is an exciting web development competition where participants enhance a common starter website by implementing features revealed through a spin wheel. Instead of building a project from scratch, teams must adapt quickly, solve real development challenges, and showcase their coding skills under time constraints.

The event is designed to test participants' problem-solving ability, technical knowledge, creativity, and adaptability while working on a live web application.

Eligibility

  • Open to all students.
  • Individual and team participation allowed.
  • Team Size: 1–2 members.

Event Format

The competition consists of 3 rounds conducted over 3 hours.

  • Every team receives the same starter website to ensure a fair starting point.
  • During each round, the organizers spin a wheel that reveals two feature options.
  • Teams must choose one feature to implement.
  • Features are categorized into:
  • Easy (25 minutes)
  • Medium (45 minutes)
  • Hard (60–75 minutes)
  • At the end of the competition, teams present their completed project and explain the features they implemented.

Evaluation Criteria

Teams will be evaluated based on:

  • Successful feature implementation
  • Code quality and best practices
  • Creativity and functionality
  • Time management
  • Understanding and explanation of implemented features

Bonus points may be awarded for completing features within the allotted time.

Rules

  • Teams must consist of 1–2 participants.
  • All teams will receive the same starter website.
  • A minimum of two successfully implemented features is required to qualify for evaluation.
  • AI tools may be used for assistance, but participants must be able to explain their implementation during evaluation.
  • Only work completed during the competition will be considered.
  • Plagiarism, copying another team's solution, or any unfair means will result in immediate disqualification.
  • The decision of the judges and organizers will be final and binding.
