Opportunity brief
Equity Auction is a high-stakes finance simulation event where teams of 1-4 members take on the role of investors. Participants must navigate market uncertainty, execute strategic negotiations, and react dynamically to sudden market shocks.
General Guidelines & Platform Rules:
- Team Size: 1-4 members.
- Platform: The entire event will be conducted online via the official Equity Auction web domain.
- Communication: All official announcements and market updates will occur within the designated portal.
- Code of Conduct: Any exploitation of platform bugs, unauthorised API calls, or abuse of the server infrastructure will result in an immediate, unappealable ban.
Event Progression & Mechanics:
- Round 0 (Prelim - Market Pulse): A timed online finance quiz and case study.
- Round 1 (Blind Bid - The Rumour Mill): Teams receive a virtual starting balance. Portfolios are auctioned blindly based on cryptic hints released by the organisers.
- Round 2 (Reveal & Trade - The Barter Window): Portfolios are revealed. Teams engage in pure barter. All trades must be processed through the server's digital ledger.
- Round 3 (The Payoff - The Final News): Breaking news will be broadcast. Asset values will update dynamically on the server. Highest final net worth wins.
System Outage & Failover Protocol:
- Participant Latency: Teams are solely responsible for their internet connection. Network drops on the participant's end will not warrant time extensions or trade reversals.
- Server Failover: In the event of a catastrophic server crash or backend failure during active trading, all market activity is immediately frozen. A timestamped snapshot of the ledger will be used to restore balances.
