Opportunity brief
MOLEQUEST Case Challenge is a competition for people who love to read, think and connect the dots. Teams (1-4 members) will dive into biological puzzles, work out what's happening at the molecular level, and build solutions that hold up when the evidence takes an unexpected turn. The event is structured in three rounds, each one testing a progressively deeper layer of scientific competence: conceptual knowledge, analytical depth and real-time adaptability. The theme is Epigenetics. So, think like scientists and find what the epigenome is hiding.
Eligibility:
Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students
Target Audience:
Students interested in
- Epigenetics and Genomics
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Biomedical Engineering
- Plant and Agricultural biotechnology
Competition Rounds:
Round 1: Online Quiz
This quiz will test grasp of basic molecular biology and epigenetics fundamentals, the toolkit you will need to crack the cases ahead. Be prepared to think fast and be sharp to earn your place in the next round.
Round 2: Submission Round
In this round, teams will be given a set of cases. Teams pick one of the cases, study the data provided, and submit a written report, answering the questions given in the case document.
Finals at IIT Madras: Offline Round
Teams arrive with a prepared PPT based on their Round 2 work and will be given a sealed envelope revealing new findings. They are then given 1 hour to rework their PPT adding any changes in their reasoning. They should then defend their Round 2 report and explain what changes and doesn't change in their reasoning because of the new information to a panel of judges.
