Opportunity brief

Overview

Get ready to test your robotics, programming, and problem-solving skills at Robo Relay, an exciting autonomous robotics competition where precision, speed, and intelligent navigation determine the winner.

In this challenge, participating teams must design, build, and operate a single autonomous robot capable of completing two challenging stages consecutively. The first stage features a Line Following Robot (LFR) challenge, where the robot must accurately follow a marked path containing curves, turns, and junctions. The second stage features a Maze Solver challenge with thermocol walls, corridors, sharp turns, and dead ends, testing the robot's navigation capabilities, path-planning, and decision-making skills.

Teams must develop a robot that can complete both stages autonomously without remote control or human guidance once the run begins. Participants will be evaluated on their total completion time and penalties incurred for navigation errors, wall collisions, and other rule violations.

The competition encourages innovation, efficient engineering, sensor integration, embedded programming, and real-time problem-solving. All robots must meet the prescribed technical and safety requirements before participating.

Competition Highlights

  • Autonomous navigation through two different maze environments.
  • Robot design, development, and sensor-based control.
  • Challenges involving line following, obstacle awareness, and path planning.
  • Performance-based evaluation using completion time and penalties.
  • An opportunity to demonstrate practical robotics and engineering skills.

Prize Pool

Total Prize Pool: ₹18,000

  • 1st Prize: ₹8,000
  • 2nd Prize: ₹6,000
  • 3rd Prize: ₹4,000

Participation Details

  • Team Size: 3–5 members per team.
  • Competition Format: One timed run through both mazes.
  • Objective: Complete both mazes in the shortest possible time while minimizing penalties.

Think you can build a robot that combines speed, precision, and intelligence? Register for Robo Relay and put your engineering skills to the ultimate test!
