Chegg is hiring for the role of Cloud Operations Engineering Intern!

Responsibilities of the Intern:

  • Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code used to provision and manage cloud resources across multiple environments.
  • Write automation scripts and tooling that support cloud operations, including access provisioning, cost optimization, and resource lifecycle management.
  • Help maintain configuration-management tooling and containerized/orchestrated workloads.
  • Support day-to-day cloud operations, including access requests, monitoring and alerting hygiene, and routine maintenance across cloud accounts.
  • Learn observability practices, including structured logging, metrics, and alerting, and help improve signal-to-noise in production monitoring.
  • Participate in cost-optimization and security/compliance initiatives, including resource tagging, rightsizing, and access reviews.
  • Ship infrastructure changes safely through CI/CD pipelines, with code review and automated checks.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across the company who depend on CloudOps for infrastructure support.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions to build engineering judgment.

Requirements:

  • Solid foundation in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, Go, etc.) and basic scripting.
  • Understanding of fundamental data structures, algorithms, and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Eagerness to learn cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-Code practices from the ground up.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, feedback-driven mindset.
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude) and able to leverage them to speed up development.
