Opportunity brief

Why Join WevSocial?

Joining WevSocial means working directly with the founder at the earliest stage, where your technical contributions will directly dictate our growth trajectory. As an intern, you will:

  • Build the automated engines that drive our user acquisition and supply-side onboarding;
  • Work closely with the founder on key business, product, and growth-engineering decisions;
  • Gain rare startup experience across growth hacking, programmatic SEO, and marketplace liquidity;
  • Take ownership of technical growth initiatives, not just administrative tasks;
  • Learn how early-stage marketplaces achieve product-market fit and network effects;
  • Have the opportunity to transition into a full-time Growth Engineer role as the company scales.

What You'll Work On (Specific WEVSOCIAL Growth Tasks)

Depending on your strengths, you will build and execute technical growth strategies, including:

  • Automated Supply-Side Acquisition (Solving the Cold Start): Write Python/Node.js scripts to scrape local directories, community boards, and social media to identify independent care providers, local tennis coaches, and indie event hosts in Toronto. Build automated, personalized cold-email and DM outreach sequences.
  • Programmatic SEO & Local Discovery: Engineer a system to dynamically generate hundreds of localized, high-intent landing pages (e.g., "Elderly Companions in The Annex," "Pickup Basketball in Trinity Bellwoods") to capture local search traffic at scale.
  • Growth Loops & Referral Mechanics: Build and A/B test in-app referral systems, gamified waitlists, and viral sharing mechanics that reward users for bringing their friends or local communities onto the platform.
  • Analytics & Activation Pipelines: Set up product analytics (e.g., PostHog, Mixpanel) and write SQL queries to track user journeys across our three verticals. Identify our "Aha!" moments and engineer automated lifecycle emails/push notifications to drive retention.
  • AI-Powered Growth Hacks: Experiment with LLM APIs to personalize onboarding flows, automate community moderation, or generate localized marketing copy at scale using our Bud-AI infrastructure.
  • Social & Content Automation: Build workflows that automatically repurpose long-form video or user-generated content into optimized short-form clips (Reels/TikToks) and schedule them across our digital channels.

Preferred Skills

We value problem-solving ability, technical curiosity, and a proactive mindset over specific credentials. Experience in some of the following is highly desired:

  • Technical: Basic programming skills (Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or SQL). Familiarity with web scraping (BeautifulSoup, Puppeteer), APIs, and automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n).
  • Analytics: Experience with product analytics tools (PostHog, Mixpanel, Amplitude) and building dashboards to measure campaign success and user retention.
  • Marketing: Familiarity with programmatic SEO, lead generation, and digital marketing principles.
  • Content: Hands-on experience with social media platforms and content creation/editing tools (Canva, CapCut, Veed) to support your technical campaigns with great creative.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking directly to early users to solicit honest product feedback.
  • Mindset: A high level of empathy, a desire to build communities, and a "hacker" mentality (you love finding clever, automated ways to solve business problems).

Language Requirements

An excellent command of English, both spoken and written. You will be required to draft marketing assets, code documentation, and GTM strategies exclusively in English.
