• PlaceIT 5.0 is the flagship ideathon by the IEEE Professional Communication Society (PCS), designed to bring together aspiring innovators and problem-solvers to tackle real-world challenges through creativity, design thinking, and entrepreneurial thinking.
• This two-day innovation challenge takes participants through the complete journey of transforming a problem into a viable solution.
• Teams will identify meaningful problems, develop innovative ideas, build prototypes or solution concepts, receive guidance from industry and academic mentors, and pitch their solutions to a panel of judges.

Event Structure:

Round 1: Launch & Problem Statement Release:

- Explore carefully curated real-world problem statements, understand the challenge, and select a problem your team wants to solve.

Round 2: Ideation Masterclass:

- Learn practical approaches to Design Thinking, ideation, user validation, and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development through an expert-led masterclass.

Round 3: Build & Mentor:

• Turn your idea into a tangible solution.
• Develop prototypes, wireframes, business models, or pitch decks while receiving continuous guidance and feedback from industry and academic mentors.

Round 4: Pitch Preparation & Submission:

- Refine your solution, incorporate mentor feedback, and prepare your final deliverables for evaluation.

Round 5: Preliminary Pitching:

• Present your solution in a 4-minute pitch followed by a 2-minute Q&A.
• Teams will be evaluated on innovation, feasibility, real-world impact, MVP/design quality, and presentation.

Round 6: Grand Finale & Awards:

• The top teams advance to the Grand Finale to present their refined solutions before the final jury.
• The winning ideas will be recognized for their innovation, impact, and potential for real-world implementation.
