- CADeX is an immersive engineering design competition that goes beyond conventional CAD by simulating the constraints of real-world product development.
- Participants must balance design quality, cost, time, resources and uncertainty while developing their solutions.
- Teams begin with a fixed virtual budget and an engineering problem statement.
- They must navigate a dynamic marketplace where component prices change based on supply, demand and market events.
- Participants then make critical Make vs. Buy decisions, choosing whether to model components themselves in CAD or purchase them from the marketplace.
- As the competition progresses, teams face changing requirements, component shortages and unexpected disruptions, requiring them to adapt their designs and strategies while staying within their available resources.
Event Structure:
Event Start:
- Date: 18 September
- Time: 8:00 PM
- Participants will be briefed on the rules, scoring criteria, auction mechanics and CAD submission requirements before receiving their starter capital and beginning the challenge.
Review 1:
- Date: 19 September
- Time: 1:00 AM
- The problem statement being worked on by each team at this stage will be permanently locked.
Review 2:
- Date: 19 September
- Time: 1:00 PM
- Teams' progress will be reviewed as they continue developing their designs.
Final Results:
- Date: 19 September
- Time: 7:00 PM
- Final submissions will be evaluated and the winners will be announced.
