Opportunity brief
Role Summary
Build and enhance software applications for manufacturing and industrial environments. Work across backend, APIs, frontend, and database layers while developing strong software engineering and problem-solving skills.
This role provides an opportunity to work with both legacy and modern technologies, contributing to ongoing platform modernization and migration.
We value strong fundamentals, analytical thinking, willingness to learn, and the ability to understand and solve problems effectively.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain applications using C#, .NET, .NET Core, SQL, and React.
- Build and consume REST APIs and understand web application architecture.
- Work with relational databases and write SQL queries for application functionality and data retrieval.
- Develop and maintain frontend functionality using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues across frontend, backend, API, and database layers.
- Read and understand existing code, including unfamiliar or undocumented code, before making changes.
- Work with both legacy technologies such as ASP.NET Web Forms and WCF/SOAP and modern technologies such as ASP.NET Core and Dapper.
- Participate in code reviews and follow coding and development standards.
- Write unit/integration tests where applicable and help prevent regressions.
- Use logging and debugging tools to identify and resolve application issues.
- Work closely with senior engineers, QA, and product teams to understand requirements and deliver features.
- Use Git or another version control system for source code management.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly for coding, debugging, documentation, and learning while reviewing and understanding the generated output.
- Continuously learn new technologies and engineering practices.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong fundamentals in C# and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Oracle experience is preferred, but experience with any relational database is acceptable.
- Basic understanding of web application architecture, including HTTP, REST APIs, and the client-server model.
- Familiarity with Git or another version control system.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Ability to read and understand unfamiliar or undocumented code before making changes.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn both legacy and modern technologies.
Good to Have
- Exposure to ASP.NET Core, including Web API, middleware, and dependency injection.
- Exposure to ASP.NET Framework / Web Forms.
- Exposure to React and TypeScript.
- Basic understanding of Dapper or other lightweight data-access frameworks.
- Familiarity with Redis, caching concepts, or JWT-based authentication.
- Exposure to unit testing frameworks.
- Exposure to manufacturing or ERP domains, such as SAP PP-PI, batch processing, process orders, BOMs, or production workflows.
Engineering Practices
- Writes clean, readable, and maintainable code.
- Participates in code reviews and incorporates feedback.
- Uses appropriate logging and diagnostics when troubleshooting issues.
- Writes tests where applicable and considers regression scenarios.
- Follows Git/version-control best practices.
- Uses AI-assisted tools responsibly while validating and understanding generated code.
- Learns and follows established engineering and development practices.
You'll Be Successful If
- You have strong programming and OOP fundamentals.
- You can understand an existing codebase and safely make changes.
- You are comfortable investigating problems rather than making assumptions.
- You can debug issues across different application layers with guidance from senior engineers.
- You are willing to work with both legacy and modern technologies.
- You demonstrate curiosity, ownership, and willingness to learn.
- You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with engineers, QA, and product teams.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to manufacturing, MES, MOM, ERP, or Industry 4.0 applications.
- Understanding of production orders, BOMs, batch processing, or manufacturing workflows.
- Exposure to CI/CD, cloud platforms, monitoring, or application performance concepts.
