Opportunity brief
Finsight is the annual finance magazine by The Finance Symposium, an initiative of the Accounting and Finance Department, St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. For our 2026–27 edition, we are inviting students from colleges across India to contribute research-driven articles on finance, business and economics.
The topics below are intended to guide your ideas, not restrict them. You may choose a topic within any of the broad areas or propose an original idea of your own, provided it fits the overall vision of Finsight.
What Can You Write About?
Finance in the Real World:
Explore the economics behind everyday businesses, consumer trends, industries and phenomena.
Think: platforms, entertainment, sports, consumer businesses, pricing, changing consumption patterns and the economics behind things we encounter every day.
Business & Corporate Finance
Explore how companies grow, compete, create value, or even lose it. Focus on recently booming industries and the companies shaping them, and examine the financial and strategic forces driving their rise.
Think: emerging sectors, high-growth businesses, business models, profitability, strategy, capital allocation, disruption and turnaround stories.
Finance of the Future
Examine how technology and innovation are transforming finance and financial services.
Think: AI, fintech, digital platforms, algorithmic investing, new financial products and the future of financial institutions.
Markets, Economy & Policy
Analyse the economic and financial forces shaping India and the world.
Think: growth, inflation, currencies, commodities, fiscal and monetary policy, demographics, markets and India's evolving economic position.
Have an idea that doesn't fit neatly into these categories?
Write it anyway.
The categories above are meant to provide direction rather than limit your creativity. If you have an original idea that you believe would make a strong addition to Finsight and has a clear financial, economic or business lens, we encourage you to submit it.
How Should You Approach Your Article?
Finsight isn't a blog.
We are looking for research-driven articles that investigate a question rather than simply discuss a topic.
Do not just tell us what happened. Ask:
- Why did it happen?
- What do the numbers tell us?
- Who benefits and who loses?
- What are the wider implications?
- What could happen next?
Your article should have a clear central question or argument and support it through credible research, relevant data and independent analysis.
Research is essential.
Depending on your topic, your research could draw from:
- Annual reports and financial statements
- Industry and market reports
- Government and regulatory data
- Academic research
- Market data
- Credible news and business publications
- Expert interviews and perspectives
- Original surveys or data analysis
We value analysis over summary and evidence over opinion.
Submission Guidelines:
- Word Count: 700–1,000 words
- Individual submissions only
- Submissions must be original and unpublished
- Recent and relevant data must be appropriately cited in APA format.
- All sources must be credible and verifiable
- Charts, graphs and visualisations are encouraged where relevant
- Plagiarism will result in disqualification
- Submissions that are AI-generated will be disqualified
- Authors are responsible for fact-checking their work and ensuring the accuracy and originality of their submission.
Submit your article for a chance to be featured in Finsight 2026–27, the annual finance magazine of The Finance Symposium, St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
Please note: Given the anticipated volume of submissions, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
