Overview

CyberSec CTF 2.0 is a hands-on, jeopardy-style Capture The Flag (CTF) competition designed to challenge participants across a range of offensive and defensive cybersecurity concepts. Teams will solve a series of challenges, earn points, and compete against each other on a live leaderboard.

Guidelines

  • The event is open to engineering students in India.
  • Participation is team-based.
  • Each team can have 1 to 4 members.
  • Inter-college teams are allowed.
  • Participants from different engineering branches/specializations may form a team.
  • No specific prerequisite skills or software are required.
  • Participants must bring their own laptop and charger.
  • The competition will be conducted offline at RV University.
  • The CTF will be hosted on an online CTF platform, which participants will access from the venue.
  • The event will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on 26 September 2026.
  • Registration closes on 20 September 2026.
  • Registration fee is ₹150 per team.
  • Maximum capacity is 160 participants / 40 teams, on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There are no separate rounds. Participants will compete continuously through the CTF platform during the event.
  • A live leaderboard will be available to track team rankings.

Competition Format

The competition follows a Jeopardy-style CTF format.

  • Teams will receive access to multiple cybersecurity challenges.
  • Challenges may cover different areas of offensive and defensive security.
  • Teams solve challenges and submit the corresponding flags through the CTF platform.
  • Each successfully solved challenge awards points according to its assigned value.
  • Teams can choose which challenges to attempt and manage their time accordingly.
  • The leaderboard will update based on the team's accumulated score.
  • At the end of the competition, rankings will be determined based on total points and time taken.
  • In case of a tie, the team that achieves the required score in the shortest total time will rank higher.
  • The competition will strictly follow the published 10:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule. No additional time will be provided.

Rules

  • Each team must consist of 1–4 members.
  • Participants must maintain fair play and professional conduct throughout the competition.
  • Attacking the event infrastructure, including servers, networks, or systems used to conduct the event, is strictly prohibited.
  • Sharing flags or solutions with other teams is prohibited.
  • Communication or collaboration between different teams is not permitted.
  • Unauthorized scripts, bots, brute-force tools, or other prohibited methods must not be used where explicitly restricted by a challenge.
  • Participants must not tamper with physical clues, equipment, or disrupt another team's activity.
  • Participants may use Google, documentation, AI tools, and other online resources unless a particular challenge explicitly restricts their use.
  • Any form of malpractice, cheating, infrastructure abuse, or misconduct may result in immediate disqualification.
  • Participants are responsible for bringing and maintaining their own laptops and chargers.
  • Technical problems with a participant's own device or setup will not result in additional time.
  • Any disputes must be brought to the event organizing committee.
  • The decision of the organizers will be final and binding.

Prizes & Certificates

  • Prize Pool: ₹6,000
  • Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the top 3 teams.
  • Digital participation certificates will be provided to all participants.
