Pitney Bowes is hiring for the role of Graduate Engineer Trainee!
Responsibilities of the Candidate:
- Assist in automation of monitoring and operational workflows through basic scripting
- Support infrastructure and network change monitoring as part of CI/CD pipelines
- Work with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Grafana)
- Contribute to infrastructure improvements using automation/orchestration principles
- Develop basic scripts (Python / PowerShell) to reduce manual effort
- Monitor network, systems, and infrastructure (LAN/WAN, Wireless, VPN, firewalls, cloud) in a 24x7 environment using standard NOC tools
- Detect, triage, and respond to alerts, incidents, and outages with defined SLAs
- Perform first-level troubleshooting across network and system components (routers, switches, wireless, firewalls, circuits)
- Log, track, and manage incidents via ticketing tools (JIRA, ServiceNow etc.)
- Follow established SOPs for troubleshooting and escalation to L2/L3 teams
- Collaborate with internal teams (Network, Security, Application, Cloud) and external vendors/ISPs for issue resolution
- Perform routine operational tasks such as configuration backups, patching, upgrades, and health checks
- Support network changes, validation, and implementation activities
- Work with APIs and structured data formats (JSON)
- Support automation initiatives and process optimisation efforts
- Build foundational understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD practices
- Maintain accurate incident records, RCA documentation, and network artefacts
- Generate periodic reports on uptime, alerts, and performance trends
- Update SOPs, runbooks, and internal knowledge base consistently
Requirements:
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Awareness of automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD concepts
- Understanding of cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Basic working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Awareness of REST API, webhooks, CSV, JSON, etc.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Routing & Switching
- Basic understanding of firewall and network security concepts
- Familiarity with WAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity
- Exposure to enterprise network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Experience or exposure to monitoring tools (LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, ManageEngine, etc.)
- Ability to perform initial fault isolation and structured troubleshooting
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability and willingness to learn
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to work in a 24x7 shift-based NOC environment
- Good documentation discipline and attention to detail
- Ability to perform under pressure during incidents and outages
- Bachelor's degree in computer science / IT / Electronics or equivalent
- 0–2 years of experience (freshers with relevant certifications can be considered)
