Opportunity brief

About Pace Robotics:

Pace Robotics, incubated by SINE IIT Bombay and backed by Pidilite Ventures and IIMA Ventures, is transforming building construction with intelligent, multi-tasking robots. Our flagship product, the Centa Painter, automates paint, putty, and sanding for building interiors and is deployed on site with Sobha Ltd. We're now scaling deployments nationally while developing new robots for other construction finishes.

About the role:

  • The Founder's Office is where the company's loose ends get picked up and turned into systems. You'll work directly with the founders on whatever matters most that week — and a lot of what matters most is the numbers.
  • That's why we're looking specifically for someone with a finance background. The anchor of this role is our monthly close: checking what our external bookkeeping agency has recorded, running reconciliations, building the MIS the founders actually use to make decisions, and automating the manual work out of the process. If the numbers aren't clean and on time, nothing else in this role matters.
  • Around that anchor, you'll get pulled into hiring, marketing, investor reporting, and operations. You won't be an expert in any of them on day one. You will be expected to pick them up quickly and execute properly.
  • By the end of the internship, month-end close should be measurably faster than it is today, and you should be able to point at exactly what you built to make that happen.

What you'll do:

The anchor — finance, MIS, and month-end

  • Own the monthly MIS — receivables, payables, payment status, cash flow position, and spend against budget — delivered to management on a fixed date every month, without being chased for it
  • Check the books. Verify transactions recorded by our external bookkeeping agency against source documents (POs, invoices, payment proofs, bank statements), flag misclassifications, and close documentation gaps before they become audit problems
  • Run reconciliations across bank, vendor ledgers, and customer receivables — and chase every difference until it's explained
  • Drive the month-end checklist: track what's pending, who owes what, and where the close is stuck
  • Automate the repetitive work — spreadsheet models, reporting templates, and simple scripts or tools that cut manual data entry and turnaround time
  • Document and streamline finance operations: purchase orders, invoicing, approvals, payment tracking, and filing, so the process holds as we scale
  • Support quarterly audit readiness — schedules, document collection, and clarifications
  • Pull ad-hoc numbers for the founders: unit costs, deployment-level spend, vendor analysis, whatever the question of the week turns out to be

The rest of the Founder's Office:

  • Build decks, data, and briefs for management, board, and investor reviews
  • Support hiring: job postings, application trackers, candidate coordination, interview scheduling
  • Pitch in on marketing execution: competitor research, campaign tracking, content support
  • Take on whatever needs executing that week — this is a small team and priorities move

Required:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or Economics — or a CA/CMA/CFA candidate at any stage
  • Solid grounding in accounting fundamentals: journal entries, AP/AR, reconciliations, and how a P&L and balance sheet fit together
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets — lookups, pivots, and conditional logic should be second nature
  • Real attention to detail. A large part of this role is catching what someone else missed.
  • A self-starter with a bias for action — you'd rather ship a rough tracker this week than a perfect one next month
  • Genuinely open to working outside finance. Some weeks are all numbers; some weeks are a hiring tracker or a campaign report.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or a similar accounting tool
  • Comfort with automation — Apps Script, Python, Power Query, or no-code tools like Zapier or Make
  • Has worked in a small, fast-moving team before, and knows the difference between a process that exists and one that actually runs
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — happy to build the template that doesn't exist yet
  • Learns fast and asks better questions than you expected

Why join Pace Robotics:

  • You report into the Founder's Office — direct exposure to how a venture-backed construction robotics company actually runs
  • Real ownership — your MIS goes to management, not into a folder
  • Visibility across finance, hiring, marketing, and investor reporting in a single internship
  • Mentorship from the finance and operations team
  • Internship completion certificate
  • Letter of recommendation (performance-based)
  • Conversion to a full-time role for strong performers
