About the Event:
The Lost Electron is a two-stage technical treasure hunt that combines technical knowledge, logical reasoning, programming fundamentals, teamwork, problem-solving, and campus navigation.
The competition begins with an Online Qualifier Assessment. The shortlisted teams then advance to an exciting On-Campus Technical Treasure Hunt, where they must solve a series of technical and logical challenges to uncover the final destination.

Stage 1: Online Qualifier:
- Date: 26th September 2026
- Mode: Online
- Questions: 25
- Duration: 30 Minutes
- Team Size: 4 Participants
Each team must consist of 4 participants, including at least one participant of the opposite gender.
Only one designated member from each team will attempt the online qualifier on behalf of the entire team.
Question Domains:
The qualifier will test participants across four major areas:
- Basic Electrical Engineering (EE)
- Basic Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
- Basic Programming
- Logical Reasoning & Problem Solving
The questions are designed to test conceptual understanding, speed, logical thinking, and technical aptitude rather than advanced specialization.
Assessment Format:
- 25 Questions
- 30 Minutes
- Online assessment
- One participant represents the team
- Performance in the qualifier determines qualification for Stage 2
The highest-performing teams will be shortlisted for the on-campus hunt.
Stage 2: The Hunt:
- Date: 27th September 2026
- Venue: NIT Patna, Bihta Campus
- Mode: Offline / On-Campus
The shortlisted teams will enter the main Technical Treasure Hunt.
Teams will navigate through designated locations across the NIT Patna campus, solving a sequence of technical, logical, and problem-solving challenges.
At different checkpoints, teams may encounter challenges involving:
- Electrical & Electronics concepts
- Programming and computational thinking
- Logical puzzles
- Engineering fundamentals
- Observation and deduction
- Team-based problem solving
Successfully solving a challenge will help teams unlock their next clue and move closer to the final destination.
The hunt will culminate in a final challenge, where teams will compete to complete the treasure hunt successfully.
Team Formation:
- Each team must consist of exactly 4 participants.
- At least one participant of the opposite gender is mandatory.
- Only one designated team member will attempt the Stage 1 qualifier.
- The same team will participate in Stage 2 if shortlisted.
- A participant can be a member of only one team.
- All team members must complete the registration requirements.
Rules & Regulations:
- Each team must consist of exactly 4 members.
- At least one participant of the opposite gender is mandatory.
- Only one designated member from each team will participate in the online qualifier.
- The qualifier consists of 25 questions to be attempted within 30 minutes.
- The qualifier score will determine the teams shortlisted for Stage 2.
- Team members may discuss and collaborate during the on-campus hunt unless explicitly restricted for a particular challenge.
- Teams must remain together during the hunt unless instructed otherwise by the organizers.
- Participants must follow the instructions provided by organizers at every checkpoint.
- Participants must not damage, move, or interfere with campus property or enter restricted areas.
- Unauthorized assistance, impersonation, malpractice, or any attempt to gain unfair advantage will result in disqualification.
- Mobile phones, internet access, calculators, or other resources may be restricted during specific challenges.
- Teams must not bypass checkpoints or obtain clues through unauthorized means.
- Any attempt to interfere with another team's progress may result in disqualification.
- Participants are expected to maintain discipline and follow all campus and event guidelines.
- The decision of the organizing committee regarding eligibility, qualification, scoring, penalties, and disqualification will be final and binding.
Qualification & Winner Determination:
Teams will first compete in the Stage 1 Online Qualifier.
Based on their performance, the highest-performing teams will be shortlisted for the Stage 2 On-Campus Technical Treasure Hunt.
The winner will be determined based on the completion of the hunt, challenge performance, scoring, and/or time criteria announced by the organizing committee.
In case of a tie, the organizing committee may conduct a tie-breaker challenge.
Important Instructions:
- Participants must provide accurate information during registration.
- All shortlisted team members must be physically present at NIT Patna, Bihta Campus on 27th September 2026.
- Detailed information regarding reporting time, assessment instructions, checkpoints, clue structure, scoring, and other event-specific instructions will be communicated to registered/shortlisted participants.
