Opportunity brief
Eligibility:
- The hackathon is open to students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or equivalent engineering/technology programs.
- Students from all engineering domains and branches are eligible to participate.
- Participants must provide accurate and valid information during registration.
Team Formation:
- Each team must consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 participants.
- Each team must nominate one Team Leader.
- The Team Leader will serve as the primary point of contact for all official communication.
- A participant may be a member of more than two teams; however, if participating in more than two teams, the participant cannot be the Team Leader of any of those teams.
- All team members must be registered participants of the hackathon.
Registration:
- Registration must be completed through the official registration platform within the specified deadline.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted during registration is correct.
- Any changes to team composition after registration will be subject to the organizers' approval.
- Registration does not guarantee selection for subsequent rounds.
Problem Statements & Submission:
- The official problem statements will be released by the organizers.
- Participants must develop their proposed solution according to the given problem statement and submission guidelines.
- A PPT template will be provided along with the release of the problem statements.
- Participants must STRICTLY follow the prescribed PPT template and submission format.
- Submissions must be made before the specified deadline.
- Late submissions may not be considered for evaluation.
Evaluation:
- The evaluation criteria/rubrics will be shared along with the problem statements.
- Submissions will be evaluated by the designated evaluation panel/jury.
- Evaluation may consider factors such as:
- Understanding of the problem
- Innovation and originality
- Feasibility of the proposed solution
- Technical approach
- Practical applicability
- Impact and scalability
- Quality of presentation
- The decision of the judging panel will be final.
Hackathon Rounds:
Round 1 - Online Screening:
- Participants will submit their proposed solution in the prescribed PPT format.
- All valid submissions will undergo an initial screening based on the announced evaluation criteria.
- Shortlisted teams will qualify for Round 2.
- All eligible participants will receive an e-certificate of participation, subject to fulfilling the participation requirements.
Round 2 - Final Presentation:
- Shortlisted teams will present their solutions before the designated jury/industry panel.
- The presentation will be conducted in hybrid mode.
- Participants based outside Pune may be permitted to present online.
- Shortlisted teams based in Pune are required to report to the designated venue for the offline presentation.
- Each team will be allotted 10 minutes: 7 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for Question & Answer.
- Teams must follow the presentation order and time slot assigned by the organizers.
- Failure to report/present during the designated slot may result in disqualification.
- Participants qualifying for the final round will receive a physical certificate of participation, subject to participation in the final round.
Prizes:
- The Top 3 teams will receive prizes from the designated prize pool:
- 1st Prize: ₹5,000
- 2nd Prize: ₹3,000
- 3rd Prize: ₹2,000
- The organizers reserve the right to modify the prize structure, subject to prior communication to participants.
Code of Conduct:
- Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful conduct throughout the hackathon.
- Any form of misconduct, misrepresentation, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour may lead to disqualification.
- Participants must comply with all instructions issued by the organizing team and event authorities.
Originality & Intellectual Property:
- All submitted ideas, solutions, presentations, and supporting materials must be original work of the participating team or appropriately attributed where applicable.
- Plagiarism, unauthorized copying, or misrepresentation of another person's work may result in disqualification.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submissions do not violate any third-party intellectual property rights.
Disqualification:
A team may be disqualified for:
- Submission of false or misleading information.
- Plagiarism or unauthorized use of another participant's work.
- Failure to comply with submission guidelines.
- Missing the assigned presentation slot.
- Violation of the hackathon rules or code of conduct.
- Any other action deemed inappropriate by the organizing committee.
General Guidelines:
- The organizing committee reserves the right to make necessary changes to the schedule, format, or guidelines, with appropriate communication to participants.
- Participants are responsible for keeping themselves updated with official announcements.
- The organizers' decision regarding eligibility, shortlisting, evaluation, and disqualification shall be final.
- By registering for the hackathon, participants agree to abide by the rules and regulations of CORTEX Hackathon.
