Opportunity brief
Competition Description:
- Do you have the creativity, precision, and technical skills to transform an engineering idea into a 3D model under time pressure? Welcome to Speed Modelling, an exciting CAD challenge where engineering design meets speed and accuracy!
- Participants will be given a mechanical component, reference image, or engineering drawing and must recreate its 3D model using CAD software within the allotted time. The challenge is to interpret the given reference, visualize the geometry, and construct an accurate digital model using appropriate modelling tools and techniques.
- From basic geometric features to intricate mechanical components, every modelling operation counts. Participants will be evaluated on dimensional accuracy, geometric precision, modelling approach, and completion time.
- Can you turn a design into a precise 3D model before the clock runs out?
- Visualize. Model. Conquer!
Competition Format:
- Participation: Individual
- Duration: As specified by the organizers.
- Software: CAD software specified by the organizers (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360).
- Challenge: Create a 3D model of the given mechanical component using the provided reference.
- Evaluation: Dimensional accuracy, geometric precision, completeness, and time management.
- Winning Criteria: Highest overall score based on modelling accuracy and completion.
Rules And Regulations:
- Each participant must independently create the assigned 3D model using the designated CAD software.
- A reference image, engineering drawing, or component geometry will be provided at the beginning of the competition.
- Participants must complete the assigned model within the allotted time.
- Only the CAD software and tools approved by the organizers may be used.
- Participants must work independently. Collaboration, communication with other participants, or external assistance is prohibited.
- Use of pre-existing CAD models, downloaded files, or ready-made templates for the assigned component is strictly prohibited.
- Participants must save their work in the designated file format and submit it before the deadline.
- The model must represent the given component accurately, including its major geometric features and dimensions.
- Participants must not use mobile phones, the internet, or external references unless explicitly permitted.
- Any technical issues must be immediately reported to the event coordinators.
- The organizers' decisions regarding evaluation, rule violations, and final results will be binding.

Winner Selection:
- Participants will be ranked based on their cumulative scores across all evaluation parameters. The participant achieving the highest score in the final round will be declared the winner.
- In case of a tie, the participant who completes the model with greater accuracy in lesser time may be given preference.
Prizes And Certificates:
- Exciting prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners, with certificates of participation for eligible participants.
What To Expect:
- Get ready to test your engineering visualization, spatial reasoning, CAD proficiency, and design efficiency. This competition challenges you to transform two-dimensional references into accurate three-dimensional models while racing against time.
- Every sketch, feature, dimension, and modelling operation matters!
- Can you design with precision when every second counts?
